KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer: When a Cheap Stand Mixer Won\’t Cut It
A quality mixer is usually a big purchase commonly costing over 200 dollars. If you’re open to spending that kind of money you\’ll want to buy a model that will last for quite a while. The KitchenAid Artisan KSM150 is one of the top models around for good reason. KitchenAid has been around since 1919 and their first product was a stand mixer. Since then they have continued to make good mixers and a whole slew of kitchen gadgets.
The original thing I noted with the KitchenAid Artisan mixer was the designing. Functionality should be the most important goal of every household appliance it doesn’t hurt to look nice either. The smooth metal finish is available in more than 20 colors ranging from basic black to a vibrant green apple finish. The stand mixer weighs in at 25 lbs. so it’s not exactly so easy to move about. Luckily it looks genuinely nice fixed on the counter top. They also sell covers as well but honestly I don’t see why you would want to cover it up.
So clearly the KitchenAid Artisan looks attractive but how well does it work? The stand mixer is capable of almost any undertaking aside from industrial sized baking jobs. Homes and businesses both make use of the KitchenAid Artisan KSM150. The 325-watt motor puts out enough power to combine almost anything you will use it for. The 5 qt. bowl is large enough to mix big batches.
The stand mixer is versatile with ten various speeds. On the lower settings you can slowly blend ingredients and add air to recipes like homemade cream. Higher speeds can mix the toughest dough. Having 10 speeds is really nice since you can slowly increase the speed without making big jumps.
The KitchenAid Artisan will do more than simply mix batter and dough. It comes with a wire beater for blending ingredients that require air like creams. There is a bread hook included also which is great for yeast dough such as pizza and bread. There are many other attachments that you can purchase to do a whole bunch of baking tasks.
Tidying up is usually a problem with stand. Adding components can cause splashing. No having enough speeds could also create splattering when you go just a notch too high. This stand mixer lessens this problem by including a pour shield that will keep spattering in check. The shield, the bowl, and the attachments are all removable and are dishwasher safe which makes the cleaning process quicker. The base of the mixer is pretty easy to wipe when you’re done.
If you are looking for a dependable, well-made stand mixer I would definitely give the Artisan mixer a try. There are definitely cheaper alternatives available but the ones that I’ve tried just do not last over time. It adds up having to re-buy a mixer again and again. Spending a little more now will get you a stand mixer that will last you years down the road.
