Camping at Cradle Mountain National Park

While other camping sites in Tasmania offer free camping, the Discovery Holiday Parks – Cradle Mountain (formerly the Cosy Cabins) have a range of environmentally sensitive, self-contained cottages, family style cabins and powered sites for you to choose from.

Located on the boundary of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, the Cradle Mountain Tourist Park & Campground provides a sanctuary from the outside pressures of modern life.

Standard Cottages

These rustic cottages sleep 4 to 5 people and feature gas log-heated fires, en-suite bathroom, TV/DVD, Austar and a full kitchen.

Spa Cottages

After a busy day exploring you’re sure to want to relax your muscles in the luxurious spa bath that the Spa Cottage offers. Picture yourself relaxing in front of your own gas log-heated fires after a busy day exploring the National Park.

Standard Cabins

These cabins have been designed with your family in mind with your own kitchen and bathroom facilities that can sleep up to six people!

Backpacker Dormitory

If you’re looking to travel in true economy, why night share a four person dorm? The dorms offer double beds or bunks, with heated rooms, linens supplied and a fully equipped kitchen.

Powered and Unpowered Sites

While camping isn’t allowed in the National Park, why not go for the next best thing and stay at one of the powered or unpowered sites at the Tourist Park? The sites are located in a beautiful bush setting that feature spectacular cooking shelters with fire places to create your perfect camping experience!

There are so many attractions within easy travel distance of the Tourist Park.

Discover for yourself the beauty of the region through guided and non-guided treks, including the Overland Track, Dove Lake Circuit and Marion’s Lake Lookout.

Escape the heat of the mainland and go horseback riding, take a canoe tour of the glacial lakes or watch the resident Tasmanian Devil population with your very own Devils@Cradle guide.

The famous Marakoopa and King Solomon Caves are just over an hour away, waiting for you to witness the wonder of stalactites, stalagmites and glow-worms!

Relax at one of the area’s many day spas, sample some of the regions finest wines at the surrounding vineyards or enjoy a dining experience at the nearby restaurants.

Other local events that you’ll what to catch are the ‘Turning of the Fagus’ – a spectacular display of Australia’s only deciduous Beech changing from green to its Autumn splendour.
