It helps you know and adjust the sound the strings produce. The tighter the tuner, the higher the note. When it is adjusted loosely, the sound becomes weaker and lower note. In order for you to master the game of music and lyrics you should learn songs on guitar-the simple ones. But first you must learn how to play the guitar. In playing the bass, you must tune the guitar on its standard tune (the normal tune). You can use chromatic tuner or better yet the internet. The more you tune the guitar, the better you memorize the sound of each string. The bass notes start with the 4th string or the E. When no fingers are attached on the string, the note or the chord is E. On the 4th string, putting your finger on the first fret is F, second fret is F#, third is G, fourth is G# and the fifth is A. On the third string which is the A, putting the finger on the first fret would produce the note Bb, second fret B, third C, fourth Db and fifth D. The second string is your D note, 1st fret=Eb, 2nd fret=E, 3rd fret=F, 4th fret=Gb and fifth fret is G. The first string is the G note. Putting the finger on the first fret gives you G# or Ab, 2nd fret= A, 3rd fret=A#, 4th B, 5th C, 6th C# or Db, 7th D, 8th D# or Eb, 9th fret E, 10th fret F, 11th fret is your F# and Gb and the 12th fret is the higher G.

In playing your bass guitar, you should practice the right way. Placing the thumb on the pick up while your right index and middle finger do the magic for you. You can never use the thumb to play the strings. The thumb is your support in fingering the strings. So, don’t leave it away from the fret board. Use the tip of your fingers. The more you practice, the more callous you gain, the more callous, the less pain you can feel. Cut your fingernails. It’s harder to meddle with your guitar with long nails.
