3 Mistakes to Avoid While Selecting a School For Your Kids

Every parent of this world wants to see their children in a respectable position in their lives, and there is no exception to this no matter where you live. If the current economic trivia is to be believed, then the largest companies of the world are in need of people who have a cross cultural educational background, and not the ones who posses only local knowledge. These preferred few have a very smart presence, are creative, flexible, free from any language or society based barriers, and are hence capable to handle tasks at any part of the world. If you want your child to be among these people, you have to rely upon international schools.

In the recent years, a lot of new international schools have come up, but the problem is that many of these are frauds and attract the attention of people only trough the power of advertisements. Educating your child in an international school is a costly affair, and if you do not think twice before investing the money, or invest it in the wrong place, then you are set to suffer a huge amount of loss, both in terms of money and the future of your child. So here are three of the most dangerous mistakes that you should avoid while selecting an international school for your kids.

Mistake#1. Blindly believing the claims of the schools, they make in the advertisements. The governing authorities of international schools have set very strict rules that the schools should follow in order to get the international school status, and the authorities regularly keep a track of these schools. There are a lot of schools out there who call themselves \’international\’, but in reality they are not, as they do not fulfill the criteria of an international school. Make prior research and inquiries from wherever possible to avoid any cases of frauds. Also have a basic knowledge about what curriculum the international schools should have. If after a few years you have to shift to a new place, then your child will have a seamless transition in terms of education if the proper curriculum is maintained in these schools.

Mistake#2. Overlooking the other facilities provided by the school. Remember you are paying quite a good amount of money for educating your child in an international school, so you have every right in expecting the best atmosphere for your child. Know clearly what type of food the canteen provides, what the hostel facilities are, whether the class rooms are air conditioned or not, whether the teacher to student ratio is correct or not, and so on. One especially important point here is the ratio between students and teachers. If the number of students per teacher is more than 20, then think twice before admitting your ward in this school. It is a vital feature that will go a long way in the educational base of your child.

Mistake#3. Not paying attention to the security issues of the school. This topic surely cannot be avoided in the current world scenario, especially after the mishaps that occurred recently in many Indian schools. Gather a good knowledge about how the school handles the security of the students.
