Keeping Your Body Cool During Summer

Summer is probably the favorite season for most people. This is the time for vacation, the time for quality time with family and friends, and the time to just simply frolic on the beach. There are many different ways on how you can spend your summer. To start off, the road trip to the beach can be a great time to bond and talk and just be silly inside the car singing to your favorite tunes. Your stay at the beach can be hours of fun in the shore, surfing or just lazing around. Some prefer the beach, while some just prefer to go to parks, go visit the mall, or just spend time anywhere as long as it is outside.

But the scorching heat can take its toll on everyone. Heat stroke can result in death if immediate medical attention is not given. But the situation need not be this extreme. Here are some ways on how you can cool off despite the hot weather you are experiencing.

Wear light colored clothes so your clothes do not absorb heat. It has been scientifically proven that light colored cloths and materials do not absorb heat, and dark ones, especially black, will absorb heat. In other words, darker clothes will make you hot. This is why during summer, popular clothing items are bright green, bright orange or white. You will definitely feel a lot more comfortable wearing them.

The moment you feel any discomfort because of the heat, immediately go to a shaded area and relax. Your body needs rest so that it will not feel constantly battered with heat. Your skin, mouth and eyes are moister than any other part of your body. You do not want to have dry eyes or mouth. Dry eyes and mouth are not only an annoyance, but can actually be harmful to your health.

Drink water even if you are not that thirsty. Do not wait until you are partially dehydrated before you do. Your body needs much more water than you think it does, especially during the hot summer days. Drink water on a regular basis and try to drink cool water during the summer. The coldness can help bring relief to the heated areas of your body. And remember to drink just plain water instead of other sugary drinks. Iced tea, lemonade and other sugary drinks can actually make your body feel more heat because the body will be obliged to break down the sugar, and when your body does this, expect heat to be generated by your body.

These are simple and practical tips but its effects can be major relief. No matter what age you are, these tips are applicable and can truly help those literally heated situations. Our body is composed of cells that need to be taken care of. If car that are made of steel gets overheat what more with our bodies that needs constant maintenance and rehydration.
