The X\’s and O\’s Prep Football Badge

High School football is like a giant game of chess except the pieces are always moving lightning fast and occasionally, the rook pops the king in the chestplate with a well-place helmet. Okay…it’s a little more exciting than chess but behind the scenes of prep football, there are all kinds of plays being run. The offense is tryint to outwit the defense and the defense is constantly changing up in hopes of catching the offense off balance. The whole gamesmanship is awesome and that’s why we came up with the X’s and O’s prep sport football badge. Check mate!

Before the chess match starts, let’s introduce you to the Prep Sport badge. What exactly is it and does it pin to your shirt? The answer is no. On the player profile, you have a lot going on. One of the most fun parts of this page is the Badge. The badge is essentially an animated graphic element that players can pick from a choice of dozens (more coming all the time). We wanted lots of different animations to reflect all the aspects of the game so high school football players can find one that matches what they love about it. Sooo…let’s find out more about the X’s and O’s badge for those football strategists out there.

This is one of our favorite badges because of the grunge look of the background. It has that ragged, old-school green background with tears and bleached edges. You have the basic representation of football players…O’s for offensive players and X’s for defensive players. Traditionally, offensive players have the O symbol as short for “Offense”. Actually, we just made that up. Who knows where it comes from but we sound like we really know what we’re talking about so go with it. As the animation starts up, the X’s and O’s start to move around the screen in a basic play. The quarterback passes the ball represented as a yellow circle that connects with a receiver crossing the middle. It’s a basic play that occurs 1000’s of times across the U.S. every Friday night at a high school football game near you. The letters “X’s and O’s” move across the screen at the same pace of the players to meet at the bottom right corner of the animation. A well-executed play caught in animation form on your Player Profile.

We really want to capture the old school look that coaches use to map out their play strategies. Today, you have electronic devices that can capture everything from play history to different options versus certain defensive sets and this is at the high school football level. We wanted the old school plays which were more likely to be written on chalk clipboards or chalk boards in preparation for the big game. There’s that classic green background like the chalkboards that are slowly being phased out for Smart Boards and white boards. High School Football is a game of tradition and we wanted a traditional look and feel. Next time you see a well-executed play, think back to the planning that went into it. Think back to the X’s and O’s badge.
