4. Other infections: One of the most common causes is the HIV infection. Persons who are HIV positive are most likely to have a sore throat. It can be controlled with antibiotics but it will most lily keep on recurring. If you are suffering from too much stomach acids, it can affect your throat as well. It makes your voice horse and it can be very painful. One of the symptoms is the severe heartburn that you experience. Tumors can also be behind your sore throat.
