One of the most common methods of entering into the business of internet marketing is deciding to use niche marketing as your primary marketing method.

What is niche marketing? In the short term it boils down to the number one (1) meaning you choose only one product) (either your own, one you have created or an affiliate product) to concentrate on.

For example; you may have an interest in camping which includes several segments such as: camping tents, sleeping bags, camp stoves, packs, etc. Finding the niche would be concentrating on one of the products found within the parent (camping) and devoting your efforts to targeting that market.

Good! Now what? Well, you have to find or develop an interest in that particular product, i.e., camp tents. This would be the tools that will put your product in front of your potential market. There are several options such as the following:

a. Create a web site
b. Develop a blog
c. Email marketing
d. Forums
e. Social Marketing

Whichever you choose there will be additional work involved to get it up and running. I’ll briefly touch on each giving some idea of what’s all involved. Keep in mind this article is for one just entering into the realm of internet marketing.

Creating a web site will include either building your own which means you will need an html editor such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc, or you can have one built for you, at a cost. This will be your call. In addition, you will need a web host and a domain name.

Develop a Blog will also include selecting a host and a domain name as well as deciding which blogging platform would be the best. There a few you can choose and most are free to use but some are more feature limited than others. One of the most popular and widely used is Word Press. I personally use WP and with the new Twenty Ten Theme with new features it would really be a good choice. However, there are other options so look aroung.

Email Marketing is one of the most popular but it does involve having a mailing list to contact. Developing a mailing list is a major process and will not be covered in this article. I hope to cover the details in a later article.

Forums are a good way to keep in touch with others in the same niche. They will also provide the opportunity to promote your product. You can find forums at google, yahoo and other such avenues.

Social Marketing is becoming a most popular method of getting a product into the market place. You should check out the following and get involved at the earliest.
1. Twitter
2. Facebook
3. Digg
4. Hub

There are others and to find them just google “social sites:” and you will find many more, but the above are the most popular.

All in all, niche marketing is an excellent method for leading to success in internet marketing.
