Pre Call Planning For Buying an Auto – Don\’t Get Taken on the Car Lot

No doubt about it. You are on the prowl for a new or replacement source of transportation. Your are in the market for a new car or truck (new to you that is). You have listened to advice from your friends, co-workers, family and those “know it alls” at the local donut or coffee shop. No doubt you have even visited a few dealerships, used car lots and even phoned or email a few automobile sellers on Craigslist or Kijiji online. All in all or in conclusion you may well be coming to the reality or eventuality that no doubt about it that you are becoming increasingly confused about your options and choices. Yet buying a new automobile should be a pleasurable experience. For after all you arrive at a dealership or private seller in either an unreliable source of transportation or none at all ( being driven by friends or family) a leave with an upscale , more reliable chariot to best or better suit your needs , comfort and convenience to say nothing of your ego – and reduced bank account.

Everyone knows that before you undertake a minor project that you should have a fairly clear understanding of how to precede. But most consumers discover that idea works better in theory than in practice. In reality, once they are in the initial stages of the project, they become uncertain and confused by the vast amounts of information they are ultimately forced or choose not to absorb and retain. Its all about best serving your needs and getting the best bargain and overall value so they you are told and come to reason, after all.

This scenario also applies to the auto industry. Yet many consumers fall into a common trap: as they begin to lose their certainty and their convictions they may become vulnerable to the manipulations of experienced auto salespeople. After all for you it’s a one shot deal – buying a large ticket item like an automobile for most is an occasional sporadic event, whereas the experienced guy on the auto sales lot does it day in and day out. To put it simply you are just one more girl on the dance floor. As a result many out to buy or replace a car or truck may sign a deal that they are either not ready for or ultimately not that comfortable with. True this won’t happen in each and every case or even in most cases, but ultimately high pressure techniques do work in some cases by and bye and thus more than one auto salesperson has some to use and rely on them as a matter of course – and successfully closing some or even many sales. So expect these tactics and procedures as a matter of due course – an overall eventuality in life and the search for a new or replacement vehicle.

So what to do? First of al be prepared – both in knowing your needs and budget. If you are financing your vehicle – go to your bank and credit union to be pre-approved for auto financing. True the dealer may have a better deal – or contacts at financial institutions to get you that “better deal “or “finance rate”. Yet this way you will have both a yardstick and reference point and won’t be waylaid or pushed into a corner. If possible don’t leave your purchase to the last moment of mechanical chance or chances. That is if you know your vehicle in on its way out , has reached the end or near the end of its practical life , or if you know major repairs are soon upcoming don’t wait till the last moment or until your source of transportation has given up the ghost. It’s like going to an undertaker for a funeral. You have little negotiating power so to speak and are not in the driver’s seat. Especially if you need the vehicle in order to conduct your livelihood or to drive to work for your income – this is not a good place to be Vis a Vis that experienced shark on the car lot. They not you are going to conduct the best deal.
On top of that it’s like going to an auction or bidding on eBay. Have a maximum amount that you are willing to go up to. Simple as that. Try not to get emotionally involved. (That is humanely possible). You attitude should be – that either there “are plenty of fish in the ocean” or “if you don’t get this car that you can certainly find another “.

With these basic precepts you or your family should be in a much better situation to negotiate and get a good and fair deal on a new or replacement auto purchases. Good luck and pleasant driving. Remember in the end its all about best overall value and reliable transportation.
