Creative School Projects With Paper Bags

Teachers are always looking for ways to create projects with items that are free. Using items from around the house that would otherwise be tossed in the garbage or recycled is a great way to save money and put items to good use. Paper sacks can be used for a variety of classroom projects to celebrate holidays or decorate the classroom. They also have a number of practical uses like using them for lunch bags or personal bags. Instead of having parents pack lunches every day in new ones and using a number each month, provide kids a chance to decorate and create one-of-a-kind versions that can be reused over and over.

Another option is create mailboxes for Valentines. This is an age-old practice in the classroom and can be used not just to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but also for other holidays when kids exchange cards, candy or small gifts. Children can create decorated versions out of the plain brown wrappers and add glitter, stickers, or crayon and marker drawings. Make sure kids include their names on their project so everyone knows whose bag is whose. This is a great project for kids because it lets them show their creativity and provides them with a tangible item they can use for the special event.

Kids love to play act and they have fun doing this with puppets. Kids can use craft items to glue, color and cut your collection of containers into animals, people and monsters they can use to perform a puppet show with their classmates. This can turn into an elaborate classroom project, especially if you have a particularly creative group of children. It could even be a project stretched out over a few days because the kids can not only make the puppets, they can write a script and put on a performance for their friends or parents.

Speaking of parents, the containers make for great parent mailboxes. At the end of a busy day, it can be tough to speak with each parent picking up their child. You can send a letter home about the fun everyone had, but it might be difficult finding time to write these letters for each child. There is also a good chance parents may not realize the notes are with their children if kids get to their schoolwork first. To avoid these problems, place communication in the mailboxes made by the kids.

Finally, these containers can be used for a variety of different games. Learning is easier when it is fun, so the more creative you get with lessons, the better kids will do concentrating and soaking up the information. Games are a great way to make classroom lessons a lot of fun. You can create counting games, collecting games, reading games and social studies games, all of which can include some fun arts and crafts to decorate the containers. This also gives kids a chance to repeat the lessons on their own time, later in the day during free time or once they are home.
