MLM Leads: The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

Anyone that is new to Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or has already built a large MLM organization understands the importance of having a large number of leads. These contacts come in a variety of “tastes”, but the bottom line is MLM leads fall into one of 3 categories, Good, Bad, or ugly.

Let’s take a look at each category and see what defines each.
First the “Ugly” – What defines a lead as “ugly?” Leads that have been resold AND the leads are generic, (that is the contacts are not specific to Network Marketing. If you search on the internet for MLM leads, your search will literally return thousands of companies that sell leads. The fact is, not all leads are the same. Opportunity seekers, work from home seekers, and people that are generally looking for “get rich quick” schemes define the “ugly” leads. Obviously these are the contacts that you want to avoid. How do you avoid these contacts? First and foremost, ask around and more importantly ask the company that you are considering buying the leads from about how their contacts are obtained.

Second the “Bad” – Leads that are Network Marketing specific, BUT they have been resold so many times that when you call them, you are at least the 3rd or 4th person that has called that day!! If you get lucky, maybe you are the first to call but the odds are slim considering that these contacts have been resold so many times. You can sometimes get lucky with “bad” leads, however why work with bad leads at all. Granted you may come from the school of thought that no contact is a bad contact, however, that is not necessarily the case. So why waste your time with bad MLM leads.

And now the “Good” – Leads that are Network Marketing specific and they have not been resold repeatedly and the leads may often be only a few days old. These are nearly the best contacts that you can buy and often they are the most expensive. The contacts are often phone verified and if worked properly can yield excellent results in helping you build your Network Marketing business.

MLM Leads definitely fall into one of these three categories, however, there is one more category of leads. These contacts fall under the category of the “BEST” leads.

The best contacts are the leads that you generate yourself. These leads are always new, always fresh and more importantly they are your contacts to keep forever. Often times as you build your own database of contacts, the opportunity exists for creating an additional stream of income while you are building your network of contacts.

There are several different ways to build your own MLM leads, the one thing that the different ways of building contacts share is common is that most of the work can be performed from your computer.

The initial setup for building your own database of contacts often very time consuming, however, the benefits of building your own contact list far outweighs any time that you put into the initial setup.

If you are ready to start building your own lead system, let’s talk soon!
