Prep Sport Fantasy Launch

3. 2. 1. We\’re getting closer every day. The official launch of Prep Sport Fantasy League action. The teams dialing in game play options, visual elements, high school football badges, and a whole host of other nonsense for players and fans of high school sports. We\’re coming up on April 1st which brings about 30-40 days till the official launch so let\’s take a look at where we are, where we want to be, and what it all means to you a prep sport fanatic.

First, what\’s done so far. The basic look and layout of the Player Profile is pretty much wrapped up. The original \”dashboard\” look of the page has been exploded out to a format that cleaner and easier to understand. It will feel much more familiar to anyone who\’s ever been on a social networking site which is most of the non-prison population. We have about 15 badges for football ready to go plus one of the exclusive badges offered only to the first accounts that sign up. The goal is a badge a week per sport plus 5-10 exclusive badges based on first come first serve. What we are discussing now is the ability to have custom badges where community members can submit their own designs for approval. We think this would be really cool because a lot of you are much more creative than us. There we said it. The initial round of Football props are also complete with the graphic design elements pretty much dialed in. We\’re going to start full bore with high school football since that\’s the first season of the school year and build out basketball once we have football at a nice content level.

The final layout of the Channel page is pretty well put together. We really wanted to make that a fun hub centered around a particular high school and last minute, we came up with some great new additions to that section. We brought in the Mascot Mayhem section where community members try to compete for the best picture/video capture of their school\’s mascot in the weirdest places. It\’s like reality TV with fake fur and giant heads. There\’s also the equivalent take on the craziest fans a school has to offer under FanTown (not related to CougarTown). Also, we wanted a shout out to the those freaks out there who collect all the sneakers. Just for Kicks is your section to showcase your prized jewels (shoes that is) and get voted on against other community members in head to head (or foot to foot) competition. So the Channel is shaping up and we\’re really happy with the direction.

Finally, the last 30 days will be pretty heavily focused on the Fantasy League layout and game play. We hope to have the first look in a few weeks and then tweak it from there. We\’ll continue to flesh out the D League which has dummy players to fill rosters that are new or small. The Dummy League players aren\’t going to be pretty but they\’ll get the job done. That\’s really the final piece. High Schools are being loaded in the system shortly and then we need players to step up and load their stats. Fans and the deadly StatMasters can do this as well to get the ball rolling. You can get notification of when the site is up and running at the Launch Bullhorn (on the right). Till then, we\’ll see you on the other side high school sport freaks!
