Tips on Movie Auditions at Acting

The audition is the most important part of traveling the road to become a film star. It is easy to get stage freight in front of a few judges who hold the fate of your career in their hands. Thousands of actors pour into auditions; whether it is your first time or your hundredth time, you need to be sure you have what it takes to outshine the rest. You can read more about the tips below.

* Be involved. A movie audition is a lot like applying for college. The judges are looking for an actor that is well rounded in their experience and their life. He wants to know that you are able to handle a busy schedule and the stress of the show-business world. Be involved with various organizations that are beneficial to your career. This may include local theater groups, high school drama clubs or church choirs.

* Be prepared. One of the biggest mistakes that many aspiring actors make is not being prepared. Have a plethora of well -rehearsed pieces in your head. You should be able to file into your mind and pick any scenario the judges are looking for. Be sure to always have an updated resume and head shots. The simplest way to organize things is to have one sheet with four head shots and a copy of your resume on the back.

* Arrive early. The line of actors waiting to audition a role can be never ending. Increase your chances of being selected by being in the top 50 or so audition slots. At this point, the judges will still be fresh and awake and more likely to see the subtle features that make you a better candidate than others. When you are later in the day your risk dealing with judges that are exhausted, irritated and hoping that their day will soon be over.

* Dress your best. Just because you have a unique sense of style or think that 5am casting calls should be attended in your pajamas, does not mean that you should. Dress to the nines every time you have an audition to attend to. You want to portray to the judges that you are serious about your job and what you hope to bring to their filming. Be comfortable yet business casual.

* Get experience. Even if you have never had the opportunity to be in a filmed role, get experience working on the camera. Have a friend or family member film you under different lighting, scenery and situations to give you perspective on how you look and sound on camera. This practice will also help you figure out the different ways in which you can become more comfortable and tweak your performance. This same technique is used by professional sports coaches. Games are reviewed to see where improvements can be made to help increase the teams accomplishments. Applying the same key principles to your acting career will allow you to be prepared for every audition.
