The Cold, Hard Truth About the Green Peril

A green pool is very typical to see after the winter season. Yes it’s gross. If you think that there is nothing wrong with it then you must be in the process of losing your mind. Kidding aside, a green pool is dangerous, so dangerous in fact that it is prohibited to use by all pool dealers and companies. All pool businesses know all the harmful effects of a green and mutilated pool. Yup, it’s mutilated. It is damaged and unbalanced – so much so that it can cause a lot of harmful effects to you and your family. Read on. Here is everything you should know about a green pool, what’s in it and how they get in there . Warning though, you will not like what you will read.

Ever since you have acquired or built a pool, you have been told and firmly instructed to cover it for the winter season. And you did indeed. You have followed it well and you have covered and protected your pool – or so you think you did.

Covering a pool for the cold season is a firm must but not a lot of people know that it is not a 100% effective. It doesn’t mean that when you cover it, it will be ultimately safe. THIS IS NOT TRUE.

A lot of pool cover manufacturers attest to the durability of their product, and as a pool owner, you are blatantly taken in by the alluring words, advertisements and commercials. Yeah well, the ads are attractive but they are not entirely true. STUFF CAN GET INTO YOUR POOL COVER STILL. Like all fabrics and materials, they have holes in them. They are not holes that are resulted from breakage but are naturally there because they are woven into place. It’s not anyone’s fault really. It’s just the way they’re made just as all major materials are made.

It’s because of these tiny holes, stuff can STILL get into your pool cover. Such stuff are as follows:

– Filth and dust
– Sand and earth
– Animal stool (animals tend to hop around and settle on your pool cover. Their debris is then dissolved in the pool water. Give me a capital E! Eeeeeewwwwwww!)
– Animal urine
– Dissolved metals (these metals are deposited in from the metallic parts in or on your pool such as railings and bolts)
– Leaves, pollen, nuts, acorns and rocks (these can get in from the side of your pool)

Aside from these, the chemicals that were put in the water have contributed to the greenness in the water. Poor pH, alkalinity, chlorine or bromine and calcium levels have either dramatically dropped or risen up. This is capital B.A.D. — as in bad for your pool and bad for you.

This greenish pool water is not only afflicted by certain stuff but is also been infected with bacteria, algae and other harmful microorganisms that have comfortably made their kingdoms and communities in your property. As you cuddle up in your home or a vacation place for winter, do so with your beloved pool. Doesn’t that wanted you to kill those pesky, up to no good things? I know I would.

So now you know the hard, cold truth about that green pool of yours. Well, information is power. I hope that with this power you will be made strong enough to battle out that green peril.
