A Trip to Memory Lane: The Things in Your Home That You Forget to Clean
Let\’s face it. We are all busy. Life is busy. We tend to forget things. But nevertheless, it is our undying responsibility to somehow keep track of everything and straighten things out – especially our house.
We do clean up our house – maybe daily, weekly or even worse, monthly. Whatever our cleaning schedules are, we do forget to tidy up some parts of our house. We may not be aware that we are doing this but we all are. Read on and unleash our undiscovered negligence with a little trip down to memory lane – a lane inside our unclean house of course.
THE DOOR KNOB
We hold on to it and turn it every day but we never clean it. Can anyone honestly say that they clean their door knob?
How to clean it?
Take a disposable wipe and clean your door knob. Start from the side that is exposed to the outdoors and then work your way in. Dry it with a piece of tissue and do it again. We hold the door knob everyday so you can just imagine how many bacteria have accumulated on it. Clean it thoroughly.
Another way to clean it is to use an old toothbrush and tooth paste. Put a dab of tooth paste on the tooth brush and scrub down your door knob. Afterwards wash it down with an adequate amount of water and dry it off with a damp cloth.
How often should you clean it?
Clean it every three days.
THE LIGHT SWITCHES
We open our lights when it’s close to dark but we never ever remember to clean them. Every hand or fingers have touched these switches. Just imagine those filthy fingerprints that stick to it every day.
How to clean it?
Load up on the paper towels. If you can have a whole package on hand, it\’ll be better. Spray your cleaner on the paper towel and not on the light switch because if you do, then it may not properly work anymore. Next, wipe your paper towel unto every light switch in your house to dry them.
How often should you clean it?
Clean it on a weekly basis.
THE FAUCET
Just because we clean and wash with our faucets it doesn\’t mean that they don\’t get dirty. They do actually accumulate bacteria and even algae. These are very dangerous microorganisms. They cause a number of very serious ailments especially to children and elderly who have weak immune systems.
How to clean it?
Use a concentrated soap to clean your faucet. Apply a generous amount of soap on a sponge. Put the scrub side down as you scour down on your faucet. Remember to scrub all the sides as you go along. Wash it down with water and let it dry.
Another way of cleaning a faucet is to apply vinegar. Get a full cup\’s measure of vinegar and pour it on your faucet. Lastly, wrap it up with tissue paper for about an hour or two. These will effectively kill all the bacteria and algae. After the allotted time, scrub it down with soap and hose it down with water until fully rinsed.
How often should you clean it?
A weekly cleaning routine is fine.
THE WIRES
The VGA cables, the cable coming from your TV, VCD, receiver, and power strip all have wires. Clean them by using lots of disposable wipes and tissue paper. Wipe the wire\’s body but never the plug in end. Be sure also to unplug the wires before you clean them. You can pat dry using a tissue paper.
How often should you clean it?
A weekly routine is fine.
It\’s totally normal to forget to clean things sometimes. The important thing is to be responsible by ending up cleaning it anyway.
