Non-Profit Organizations Empowering People to End Poverty
Poverty is a situation in which a person is deprived of the necessary requirements and entitlements to satisfy his or her basic needs and aspirations. In developing countries like Bangladesh, a large percentage of people live in poverty. The urban areas enjoy a better quality of living, whereas the rural population has limited access to basic facilities of health care, education and clean drinking water.
Poverty is a multi dimensional problem and its eradication from the society is a huge challenge. To remove poverty from the society in a holistic way it is necessary to focus on the empowerment of the poor. Some nonprofit organizations in the world have come forward with their philanthropic missions to work for the betterment of the poor. These organizations have been dedicated to working hard to help the people in rural areas of developing countries with their charity work. They are mainly focusing on the areas like health, education and social barriers to improve the lives of the poor.
Charity organizations believe that empowering the poor is the only solution to end poverty from the society in a holistic way. With the mission to change lives of the poor, these organizations have started their projects on health care, education, self-reliance and a safe environment. They believe that education is the most important tool for the social and economic development. To eradicate illiteracy many charity organizations are running schools in villages to educate poor children, who had never even dream of going to schools. They also offer scholarships to poor or orphan meritorious students who are unable to continue their education due to lack of money.
Proper health care is a pillar to the successful growth of society. It is painful to see a large number of the people dying because of poverty and proper health care facilities. The nonprofit organizations are running free hospitals and health camps to save the lives of thousands of people in real need. For instance, Arsenic poisoning is a huge issue in villages of developing countries in Asia that can cause death to thousands of people. Apart from general health and education programs, many nonprofit organizations have stepped forward to conduct awareness programs to educate people about Arsenic poisoning so that they can save lives of thousands of helpless people.
To empower the poor to earn their own living, the charity organizations are running self-reliant projects with an intention to help the very poor by financing them to run their own small businesses. In the last few years, thousands of people have received better education, health and welfare services that enhanced the socio-economic development and generation of income in underprivileged families, thereby lessening poverty from the society.
It becomes the responsibility of every individual to share the pain and reduce the sufferings of these people who not only face financial crisis but are also outcast by the affluent society. These programs of charity and giving not only assure them the basics of life, but also give them hope and re-establish their trust on mankind and humanity.
