Working With Incentives and Incentive Programs
In a company, incentive plays an important role especially on the performance and productivity of the employees because incentive will serve as the additional motivation for them. Companies normally have their own goals or targets that they want to achieve and they need their employees to make this possible. Aside from the customers or the clients, the employees are the ones who have very important roles in a company’s growth and success so it is just right to give them incentives as their rewards as long as they deserve it.
If you are the owner of the company, giving incentives to your employees would mean that you need to spend additional amount of money aside from their salaries and other expenses but it would be all worth it. Some time in your life, you’ve been an employee yourself and you should be aware that doing exactly the same things every single day can be very tiresome and boring. So you should be considerate of what your employees feel about their work. Giving them a break like company outings and gatherings every once in a while would be a great idea but you can do something better. And, this is to give your employees some incentives. Incentives can be in a form of cash, gift certificate, appliances, opportunities, travel tickets and other stuff that can be useful to everyone. When you implement an incentive program, it does not mean that your employees are no longer working properly or they are not that productive anymore. This is just one way of encouraging your employees to double their performances and productivity rate that will eventually speed up the process of reaching the company goal. If all your employees will work at their hardest in their own will, your company will surely be among the successful ones.
Basing on this fact, incentives really do work and this is without a doubt. Human beings would normally work at their hardest if a reward is waiting for them even if it is just a simple and inexpensive reward. Sometimes, they even think incentives or rewards also serve as some kind of recognition. Incentives will make them more excited to work and increase their productivity rate. If there are quotas to be met, incentives will motivate them to reach the quota at the soonest time.
However, you should remember that incentives are not intended to make your employees to the things that they do not want to do. It is not a very good idea to force your employees, what you can do is just to reinforce and motivate them. Thus, before starting an incentive program, you should have a complete understanding on what is the main purpose of such program. This will help you decide of the incentive program that you are planning to launch can be the solution or can be an additional problem. This will also prevent you from being disappointed on what will be the results of giving incentives without careful planning and complete understanding.
