How Hypnosis Can Help You to Lose Weight
Hypnotherapy can help you on many positive things such as stress relief, quitting smoking, improving positive thinking and even to lose weight just to name a few of the many benefits one can get from hypnotherapy. However, before we talk about how hypnosis can help you to lose weight, I wish to clear up some misconceptions many people have about hypnosis.
Through misinformed sources like the cartoons we watched when we were little kids, many of us have the impression that when we are undergoing hypnotherapy treatment, we are unconscious and at the mercy of the hypnotist. The hypnotherapist at this point will have full command of our faculties and have the power to make us do anything he or she wants like making us bark like a dog or prance around like a monkey or worse, make us sign all our money to him or her. Do you believe that?
Well, that is entirely untrue and must be debunked. What the therapist do is to put you in a very relaxed state, but you are still conscious of what is going on and can hear what the therapist is saying loud and clear. You can also walk away from the couch to attend to other things if you choose to do so.
The reason you are put in a very relaxed state is so that your conscious mind or sometimes called the logical mind is not so active, so that positive suggestions can be made into your subconscious mind to achieve the changes that you want, for this instance, about losing weight.
This is to circumvent the conscious mind because if your conscious mind is active and the suggestion made to you is that you are a \”light eater\”, your conscious mind will say, hey that is not true and rejects the suggestion before it can be implanted into your subconscious mind.
Similarly, if your conscious mind is active and it is suggested to you that you \”like to exercise\” which in effect you don\’t, your logical mind will again reject such a suggestion. So the idea is to relax your conscious mind so that the positive suggestions will go straight into your subconscious unobstructed and then you will act on these suggestions unconsciously and become a light eater and a person who likes to exercise thereby losing weight as a result.
Now that you understand how hypnosis works, you should also understand that going for hypnotherapy treatments can be rather expensive for most people and what\’s more, you will probably need repeat visits to the therapist\’s office until your goals are achieved. The good news is that many professional hypnotherapists know this and they have made recordings of the various hypnosis sessions and selling them on CD and MP3 formats which are affordable by most people.
So if you have something which you want to achieve such as losing weight, why not give hypnosis a shot? After all, many big hospitals already have counseling and alternative treatment departments using hypnosis as a form of holistic treatment.
