Family Beach Vacations Are a Great Way to Create Strong Familial Bonds
They say that a family that ‘vacations together stays together’ for there are many physiological and psychological benefits to family vacations. Creating wonderful memories for your kids of the growing up years can include family vacations. Apart from families bonding on vacations, there are many health advantages to going on family vacations. It is a time for parents to relax and tune off their busy professional life and for kids to bond with their siblings and parents.
Having traditional yearly vacations is a great joy that many families will attest to. These yearly vacation can even include grandparents if possible and the benefits are:
– Freedom from every day routines
– Concentrate on just fun, laughter and play
– Opportunity for young and old to bond together
– Enjoy exploring new places and environments
– Time for grandparents to be a small part of their grandkids lives
– Young and old can learn to integrate and expand their horizons by learning about each others worlds
When planning a family vacation, a popular choice is the beach. Family outing at the beach creates strong familial bond for the beach is a place where everyone – young and old – can find entertainment. The first thing to do when planning a beach vacation is to choose where you wish to go which could depend on the cost, holiday time available etc. Look for the appropriate accommodation and for this you will need to plan early in order to get a good place to stay in. Seaside resorts can be quite expensive during peak seasons.
However, most family vacations can be taken only during the children’s school vacations which are during summer. Also summer is the best time to visit a beach resort. So, if you cannot afford expensive resorts, look for small family run ones that will be inexpensive and more informal for a family-style holiday. Be sure the beach you are visiting is appropriate for kids too – remember there are nudist beaches too! If you have a pet you wish to take along, check if the hotel will accept them. If they will not then either try another hotel or leave your pet with a family member or a good kennel.
When you book your family beach vacation, be sure to check out the activities they offer for different age groups. While a family beach vacation is a time for everyone to bond, each one – especially teenagers – need some space too. So, find some age-related activities that teenagers can take part in like scuba diving, snorkeling or surfing. They can go for these on their own or with their parents too. If you have only small kids, you will probably spend more time with them in all their activities.
If such is the case, find out if the hotel has good baby sitting services. Then, after a day of fun in the sand and water, tired kids can be put to bed and parents can get some quality time alone while a baby sitter takes care of their children. Apart from beach related activities, hotels will also offer night time activities like dancing. So, take everyone’s interest in mind when booking a hotel for your beach vacation. Get all the kids involved in the packing which can be as much fun.
Let your children – whatever their age – pack their own stuff. Young kids will want to take some of their favorite toys or books. Teenagers will want their cell phone and iPod. While you give them some allowance, indicate that they must not take too many things. Make sure they have enough swimwear, sunscreen, nightwear and some casual clothes for evening outings to the town. The amount you pack also depends on how far you plan to travel. While car journeys allow you more leeway in what you carry, plane trips can be restrictive.
If you are traveling by car, have some games to entertain kids along the way and make frequent rest stops. Don’t let kids stuff themselves before a journey for they will feel sick. If you are staying at a home run resort, take along a portable DVD player to entertain kids especially if no cable TV is available. Family vacations need not be exotic or expensive – just a time to have fun and bond. Beach vacations are some of the best ways to have a family vacation for beaches offer something for everyone and these happy memories will stay with them all through their lives.
