Both enjoyed their meals, not knowing it was there last. Food poisoned there bodies. These events actually happened in real life. There are foods that are dangerous to humans. Here is a list of the 10 deadliest food:
1. Fugu
It is a Japanese word for Pupperfish, and is a delicacy in Japan. If meat is not properly cleaned, it is a deadly meal. Its liver contains levels of tetradotoxin that paralyzes the body and causes death. Tetradotoxin is produced in the liver by a certain bacteria. It is a potent neurotoxin with no known cure, and is 10 times more toxic than potassium cyanide.
2. Ackee
It is the national fruit in Jamaica, consumed mainly as a Jamaican cuisine. When it is ripe, yellow arils can be eaten. Before harvesting, ackee pods should be allowed to ripen and open naturally. Ackee arils must then be cleaned and washed before cooking. If food preparation is not done properly, consuming it will cause vomiting, seizures and fatal hypoglycemia known as Jamaican vomiting sickness. Raw ackees and the inner tissue of the ripe aril contains a potent alkaloid toxin.
3. Cassava
Grown tropically in many countries around the world, it has an edible starchy tuberous root which is a source of food. It is classified as sweet and bitter tastes. Raw cassava contains cyanogenic glucoside which is converted into cyanide in the human body.
4. Giant Namibian Bullfrog
This four legged vertebrae is a delicacy in Namibia and can grow as big as a domestic cat. If eaten prematurely, it will cause a burning inflammation of the urethra with resulting kidney failure.
5. Death Cap Mushroom
This soft umbrella-shaped fungi can be very delicious but dangerous. Half of its cap is enough to kill a human. It contains two toxins, the amatoxins and the phallotoxins. It will cause vomiting and diarrhea which leads to dehydration.
6. Peanut
This small legume looks harmless but some people can have allergic reactions to peanut exposure. Symptoms can range from watery eyes to anaphylactic shock. When not treated immediately, it can be fatal.
7. Silver-Stripe Blaasop
This exotic fish that originated in the waters of the Western pacific and Indian Ocean contains a poisonous substance in its liver, skin and reproductive organs which can cause breathing or circulation problems and paralysis to the muscles.
8. Rhubarb
This vegetable of the genus Rheum has a poisonous substance found in its leaves. The leaves contain oxalic acid which is a nephrotoxic and corrosive acid that can damage the kidneys.
9. Apple
This fruit was forbidden in the Garden of Eden. The apple is simply one of the most frequently consumed fruits in the world. The fruit safe is except for the seeds which contain certain amounts of cyanogenic glycoside.
10. Cherries
This red delicious fruit has many uses. But if you chewed the pit, you will experience mild poisoning and will cause headache, anxiety and vomiting. Larger doses may lead to death. Cherry pit contains cyanogenic glycosides as well.
