The Makings of a Model Pool Owner
Are you a pool owner who just has so many questions about your pool? Well, join the club. Believe it or not, even pool owners of 5 to 10 years never run out of pool related questions. This is sad right? I mean, you expect the old timers to at least be more informed about pools and their maintenance. But why is it not so? Here are some of the reasons:
People tend to compare their pool filtration systems and characteristics to others. For example, guy A has a bromine treated pool and guy B has a biguanide treated pool. The two persons converse. Guy A says \”You know what? I have had algae problems all my life.\” Then guy B replies \”Well I don\’t. Here, try my algaecide. It has always fixed my algae problems. Algae never really came back to my pool after using that one.\” Guy A jumps up and down and goes home and then pours ion the algaecide into his pool. You see? A biguanide compatible algaecide will not necessarily work pn a bromine treated pool. Yikes!
Pool owners ultimately IGNORE the manufacturers\’ manual and guide books. This problem never ceases is a human being\’s life does it? For example, a woman named Lisa bought an I Phone 4 for the first time in her life. She was so excited to use it that she wounded up throwing away the product\’s manual. She was using it and using it until she noticed that the phone could not receive any game installation. She panics and takes the phone to the manufacturer. The manufacturer looks at the phone and says \”This has to be jail break first before you can install any games.\” Lisa says \”What do you mean? How much is it?\” The manufacturer declares the price and Lisa paid for it. Then the manufacturer said, \”You know you should have just bought the one that has already been jail break. It\’s much cheaper than having us do this for you.\” Well what can you do if you already purchased a certain pool part or product? Not many companies offer a money back guarantee especially if the product is not broken. It doesn\’t mean that you can return it when it doesn\’t fit your liking.
Beginner pool owners do not talk to their dealers. They do not ask how a certain equipment or part works, how it is cleaned and stored. This may result into breakage of that certain equipment or part.
People only pay attention when something has already been broken or has crashed. They do not ask ahead. \”What\’s going to happen if this doesn\’t work anymore?\” or \”What happens if this pressure gauge goes up?\” No such question were asked prior to purchasing any pool part, merchandize or equipment.
Pool owners do not get out of their way just to understand where this goes and why it goes there and what it actually does. Some pool owners have the idea that pool maintenance is easy or that it comes out naturally. Well, IT DOESN\’T. A lot of do it yourself pool maintenance videos are present on line. Only 63% of pool owners watch them? Where\’s the other 37%?
IGNORANCE cannot help anybody. Pay attention and get to know about everything that has to do with your pool before you make purchases. Do not commit the same mistakes. Be a model pool owner.
