Living in Adobe
Adobe, much like Java and Microsoft Office, is a set of programs that has established itself in the computer software world as an indispensable tool. Adobe’s programs come in a wide range of specialization such as graphic design programs like Photoshop, audio editors like Soundbooth and Audition, and web designer programs like Dreamweaver, Contribute, and Flash. All these programs can provide a great advantage to any number of professions such as advertising firms, web designers, and film and audio editors. As an added advantage these programs can be integrated so that they work together.
What it has to Offer
Adobe and their software have many tools that can be important to a number of different areas in the business world. With a wide range of programs such as Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Fireworks, Soundbooth, and Dreamweaver Adobe provides a number of tools for graphic designers, website designers and others in similar fields. These programs can provide a platform for a number of different fields, such as an advertising firm looking to create posters, magazines, flyers, brochures, and other items that are used in the advertising field. Programs such as Dreamweaver allow programmers to preview websites and search and alter text or code by searching terms and code throughout the entire site.
Something for Both Novices and Experts
Adobe keeps in mind that not everyone who uses their programs is an expert which is why they have a number of different levels of programs. While these programs are certainly advantageous for large corporations and business they can also be used for other purposes such as personal editing projects. Programs such as Adobe Soundbooth showcase the ease in which someone who is not an expert in audio editing can work on personal or side project without having to purchase a more extensive program such as Adobe’s more advanced software called Adobe Audition.
Integration and Cross Platform Uses
Adobe offers a high level of integration between their programs to allow programmers and designers to work in conjunction with other Adobe programs. For example Adobe’s program Firework, which is a bitmap and vector graphic editor, is designed to integrate with Adobe Dreamweaver and Flash. In this instance Adobe provides a way for web designers an easy method to collect and assemble data. In fact, a programmer could build a website almost entirely with Adobe programs. With all these programs working in concert a programmer could design images with Photoshop, create interactive videos and media with flash, and assemble it on a website with Dreamweaver. Also, some programs such as Photoshop are cross platform, meaning a Photoshop program can be run on both Microsoft and Mac OS’, while others can be made cross platform through a series of upgrades. This cross platform upgrade allows users to transfer their data from a PC to Mac. Another example of cross platform use is Adobe InDesign. InDesign, as stated above, is used to create items such as posters and brochures which can be transferred to mobile devices and tablets, like the iPad.
