Building a Wooden Weight Bench

Obtaining a weight bench is still possible for those who cannot afford to spend a lot of money however. One alternative is to build your own weight bench out of wood and some easy to find or borrow hand tools.
To begin with, make sure that you have two 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 inch boards, seven 2-by-4 boards, a measuring tape, drywall screws, and a hand saw on hand. If you do not have these tools and materials, they are fairly cheap at a local hardware store.
You can also check with a neighbor who likes to do a little home repair now and again. After you have collected the tools and materials that you need, measure your height in inches.
Then, while sitting down, measure the distance from the chair to the top of your head. Make sure you are sitting up straight or you will run the risk of creating a bench that is too short for yourself.
Lay the two 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 boards on a flat surface. Measure from the top of each board down to the length of your body and mark the board.
Use the hand saw to cut the boards where you marked the board. These will be the two pieces that will serve as the top surface of the finished weight bench.
Then, lay the seven 2-by-4 boards on a flat surface. Measure the boards and mark them at the eleven inch intervals.
Use the hand saw to cut the boards where you marked them. Lay the 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 boards side by side on the flat surface and make sure they are lined up properly.
Measure the boards and then make a mark directly in the center of the board. Then, take one of the eleven inch long 2-by-4 boards and lay it across the middle of the two boards.
Use four drywall screws to secure the 2-by-4 to both 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 boards. The 2-by-4 should be acting as a cross beam Kamagra Gold that is holding the two 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 boards together.
Take the measuring tape and measure in two inches from each of the ends of the 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 boards. Attach an eleven inch 2-by-4 in each place that you marked so the 2-by-4 boards will be standing vertically.
These 2-by-4 boards will be the legs of the finish product. The 2-by-4 boards should perpendicular to the 5 1/2 by 1 1/2 boards.
Then, place another 2-by-4 at the top of the bench on the outside of the 2-by-4 legs and attach the board to the legs by using drywall screws. Repeat on the other side.
If you have a long enough 2-by-4, repeat this step on the two sides as well. This will make the bench sturdier, so that the screws do not strip the wood when the bench is moved or used.
Finally, use 200-grit sandpaper to sand the top of the weight bench so that it is smooth. You will also probably want to sand down the sides as well because you may want to touch them without getting slivers.
Or you may want to sand it all over for appearances sake. You can even go to the store and buy some wood polish to give your weight bench the extra touch.
Polished wood is a great piece of furniture to add to any room. If you have the carving skills and tools you could make this bench look like a piece of art instead of a simple piece of workout equipment.
