Grounding Works by Increasing Electrons
Ever hear of getting grounded? For most, this refers to getting centered, connected to Mother Nature, Father Sky, being rooted in truth and love. The necessity for getting grounded in today\’s busy world is imperative for health and well-being. How seldom do we allow the space for being grounded, connecting with nature. The idea is nice and it feels good when we do it, but is it a necessity?
Kick off your shoes, walk on the grass and lift your face to the sky. You\’ll enjoy the experience and may allow yourself space for regular grounding if you understand the principles behind why you feel good at these times. It\’s more than the freedom of being a kid again, walking barefoot. The chemistry of what occurs physiologically is profound.
The body absorbs electrons from the earth through the feet. The earth receives electrons from lightning which are absorbed into the earth. The feet have meridian pathways punctuated by acupuncture points. It is along these paths that energy moves through the body touching each cell and energizing it. With bare feet, we unite a acupuncture point located on the bottom of the foot with the earth\’s energy. Since the skin is a good conductor of electrons, and the acupuncture point in the center of the ball of the foot is very receptive to electrons there is a transmission of electrical energy throughout the physical form.
The point at the middle of the ball of the foot is K1, a point associated with the kidneys. The kidney meridians are intricately involved with other meridians in the body. The result is grounding the feet with the earth effects every single meridian of the body and therefore every single organ system.
So what happens physiologically when grounding with the earth occurs? There is a transfer of free electrons from the earth to the feet. These electrons are able to move throughout the physical body and do what electrons do best – bond with other elements. This is important, particularly because there are free radicals circulating through our body.
Free radicals have an uneven number of electrons and are seeking something to bond with. Typically they bond with anything they can, from a white blood cell, to a protein molecule to DNA structure. Bonding with an electron from one of these cells or structures changes the structure of the cell, or the molecule. This reduces the natural vitality of the white blood cell or protein structure all of which is part of the aging process.
Diets high in antioxidants can slow the aging process by bonding with free radicals and eliminating potential damage. Electrons freely moving throughout the physical body are available to bond with free radicals and render them ineffective as to their destructiveness.
Free radicals are not inherently bad; they are a by-product of natural metabolism in part. They also occur in the foods we eat. They result from energy production by mitochrondria of cells and if free radicals are over-abundant can destroy the action of the mitochondria itself.
Grounding works to change the spirally inevitability to age by increasing the availability of electrons to bond with free radicals. The electrons circulate throughout the body and are stored when the point in time when they are needed either because of an injury or an illness. It\’s a defensive mechanism lying dormant, waiting for a need to arise.
For people who want to increase their electron level, walking barefoot on grass is the answer. For those who live in cities where grassy areas are hard to find amidst the concrete, placing the bare feet on grounding pads while sitting can provide electron support. Sleeping on grounding sheets, which are sheets that have silver threads in them can be grounding as well. Grounding sheets are plugged in to an electrical ground outlet which provides a circuit of electron stimulation.
Coupled with eating healthy foods, drinking fresh, clean water, grounding can provide many health benefits through reducing the free radicals in the body, and improving our rest. Good sleep is healing in and of itself because it provides balance in daytime and nighttime cortisol levels which are related to our stress levels. In addition, pain is reduced when sleeping on grounding sheets.
Grounding pads for the ball of the foot are available to support electron movement throughout the physical body and can provide a source of grounding throughout the day\’s activities.
