Benefits of Becoming a Certified Nurse Assistant

Should you allow your child to leave school and not go to college? This question is one that runs through the minds of many parents but there are worse things that your kid could do. It is a fact that although going to college can be a great experience it does not always suit everyone. If you think about it, a lot of teenagers don\’t know for sure what they want to be for the rest of their lives. They are often keen just to get out into the real world, experience life and start to earn their own cash. And there is a good chance they will not be completely aware that working for a living is actually hard work. All they may be thinking of is the dollars in the pay check.

But letting a 16 year leave school to become a nursing assistant may be the best move you ever make as parents. The role will help to develop their sense of responsibility and possibly their patience levels too. The training doesn\’t take that long – it\’s only about 75 hours in most states. Nursing assistant are usually allowed to work once they have completed the first 16 or so hours of learning about medical ethics, how to look after the elderly and infirm and what they are allowed and not allowed to do.

The rest of their training usually takes place in the clinical setting and any notions about working for a living being easy will be quickly dispelled. Although the role of nurse\’s aide can be rewarding it is also a physically demanding job. Some of the duties are unpleasant but must be preformed with dignity and regard for others. The hours are long and most of the time the young student will be on his or her feet. This is not a job where you can get though 9 to 5 checking your face book fan mail.

But it does give the young would be school leaver a glimpse into the world of many different careers. It could inspire him or her to return to school and college to qualify as a doctor or a nurse. These are not the only medical certifications that may be of interest. They may find the world of ultrasound medicine to be fascinating and decide that they want to turn to college to study to become an ultrasound technician.

They may decide that the world of medicine is not for them too. This isn\’t a bad thing and it doesn\’t mean that they have wasted the six or so months it took to make this decision. Some will make it a lot sooner than this. Anything that convinces a 16 year old that qualifications are the key to a better job has to be a good thing. Imagine how much more motivated most will be about their future studies when they realize that to earn the type of money they want to achieve means that they need additional qualifications.
