For almost everyone on earth, there comes a time when they will need to have someone take a look at their teeth to see if decay is setting in. Most of us will have a very healthy teeth cleaning regime, but there will still be a need to get them checked out occasionally. To undertake this kind of procedure, it is a good idea to visit an expert within the local area so that repeat visits are made easier. Some of us will only venture into one of these offices when we are in excruciating pain, of course. This usually means a crisis and sometimes the expert will not be able to do too much because of infection. He will, obviously, prescribe some medication but the person will usually have to wait until the infection dies away before he can undertake any kind of remedial work. This could include the usual fillings or such like that we are all very used to these days. The only difference being that now they will be white instead of the silver grey color that was apparent some years ago. A titanium post can be sunk into the jaw bone so that a fake tooth can be added on top. For all intents and purposes, this is a new tooth which will function like the real thing so the person will no longer have a gap in their smile anymore.

Teeth whitening treatments are also on the menu here and this is a more intense version of the over the counter treatments that people have been buying. Indeed, it is usually better to go to the experts for this kind of treatment since bleaches are commonly used which could cause some damage. Another innovation that has come on the market too is the veneer which is used to stick onto the front of the tooth to hide any kind of innate blemishes that cannot be removed. These are thin slivers of porcelain or plastic, matched to the teeth, so that they look like the real thing. Once in situ, these are difficult to tell from the real thing and the person still has their own teeth underneath. This is a great treatment for those who have cleaned off all the enamel on their teeth and who have no hope to make them look whiter even with the whitening treatment.

It is obvious then that there is a host of different treatments available today. All the person has to do is go along and check it out!
