Because the resorts are used as getaways, they are long distances from the major cities of the area. The complaints from this are that people do not travel into the city to help boost the economy. One other complaint is that the resorts are taking away the areas food and alcohol sells.

Another reason that the money is not helping the area is the fact that international companies own the resorts so profits earned leave the country.

With all of the negative, there are people that see a benefit of having these resorts. An influx of tourists still travel through the airport and towns to get to the resort. It also gives locals a job for their family and the property values around the resort also tend to rise.

Today, many resorts try to find their niche by incorporating a type of theme with the resort. It might be something geared toward kids or sometimes toward the adults. One of the many attractions that can be found in these resorts are water parks. These seem to be big positives for the family guests. Kids clubs and babysitting are also big hits with the parents.

Another thing that draws the adults to these resorts are the exceptional accommodations and high scale hotels. The rooms tend to be a great value and have all of the extras to pamper the guest. An excellent selection of restaurants that feature a five star feel allows the visitors to eat at a different place each meal. Not having to worry about which flights to take makes the whole experience much easier.

Some of the other extras that are normally included within the package are outdoor activities, spa treatments, and personal tours.
