The amount in which the supplement must be used depends on the product and the needs of the individual. For minerals and vitamins, the US RDA’s are the recommended guidelines. However, for other products, you should refer to manufacturer’s guidelines or consult your doctor.

You should first consult your doctor and ask him/her if you should use a dietary supplement because sometimes dietary supplements can cause certain disadvantages as well. Nutritional supplements can sometimes cause side-effects as well. Sometimes taking a nutritional supplement would make health conditions even worse because the supplement might react with any medicine or some other supplement that you already might be taking. This can also happen that the supplement you start using is not manufactured according to the required standards of quality and if this happens then the supplement can cause various side-effects. Hence, you should always be careful and consult your doctor before you start using any nutritional supplement.
