Scrap iron is usually salvaged from demolished steel structures, railroad tracks, railroad cars, and other obsolete machines. Recycled steel can contribute to reducing water and air pollution. This can also hep save energy. After recycling, steel can be used in making cars, bridges, stainless steel utensils, soda cans, construction materials and more. Research shows that 3000 pounds of iron ore is saved for every ton of recycled steel. This is the biggest benefit that can be obtained from recycling scrap steel.

Recycling Scrap Copper
The raw materials for cooper are also being exhausted rapidly as the demand for this metal continues to increase. This makes it even more important to keep recycling copper to keep up with this high demand. Impure copper can still be refined and turned into a grade A quality to be used for making new products.

Recycling is certainly an environment friendly activity because this can help conserve fast depleting natural resources. This can also reduce the carbon footprints of the people on nature if they keep on recycling instead of making new products out of raw materials.
