Garage Doors and Their Types
Garage doors are a good addition to any home. These are helpful at securing your vehicles given all the kinds of threats to vehicles right now. If you want to help lessen your insurance premium, a secure garage can help you achieve this goal. However, you have to ensure that your garage door is also secure. Investing in your garage can add value to your home. There are different types of garage doors that you can choose from: roller, up and over, sectional and swing hung garage doors. You can choose one that meets your needs.
Roller Doors
These are ideal for a garage with a short drive way and has a smaller space. These work simply by rolling upwards in a drum. Their width do not really matter that much because they do not swing anyway. Usually, a roller garage door is automatically operated. This feature makes them suitable for places with bad weather conditions wherein you cannot easily get out of the car and open the door to park.
Up and Over Doors
These are doors, which operate by swinging. At first, they swing outwards, upwards and then up to the ceiling of the garage. However, these are only best used in a garage with enough space for the swinging and raising of the doors. Those with a short driveway cannot accommodate this type of door. You still need space where you will park your car before letting it into the garage.
Sectional Garage Doors
These are good for driveways with little space. Despite the lack in the area in the driveway, these doors can still open with great ease. The door in itself has four sections in it. Due to the absence of the swinging mechanism in these doors, you can easily drive in and out of your narrow garage and drive way. They just need to be pulled upwards to open them and downwards to close them.
Swing Hung Garage Doors
These are the traditional type of garage doors, which open and close by swinging. To swing these doors, it is important to provide space for them. A thin or narrow driveway would not be enough for this type of door. These are usually preferred by people who still want to stick to the traditional doors, which are also cheaper than the other types of garage doors.
These garage doors are worthy investments to your home. They should be painted well and enhanced in terms of aesthetics, as this is the trend these days. Before, garages are located at the backyard of the house so they are well hidden from view. No one would care much about how your garage looks like. However, most types of modern garages now are placed near the gate, beside the house, right in front where everyone can see them. This only adds pressure to homeowners like you to strive in improving the way your garage looks. Moreover, you have to think about your convenience in opening and closing the garage door whenever you need to get out of the house. Knowing the different types of garage doors can certainly help.
