Economic woes have plagued the U.S. for the last several years and have caused many people to hold uncertain outlooks for the job market. Unemployment and uncertainty about the economy have become common place for those located all across the country. Coupled with a downward trend in employment comes an upswing of new students at higher level academic institutions. Enrollment in educational programs above the high school level has been steadily increasing over the last few years and is higher than it’s been in recent memory. Studies have shown that more and more jobs are requiring a post secondary education as a basic prerequisite for employment . The biggest new story of July 2011 in the U.S. is the impending vote on the debt ceiling. This debate has sparked criticisms in spending practices by both sides of the political isle; however, despite the current turmoil, look for government jobs to remain the safest means of employment for years to come, particularly when it comes to National Security. Since September 2001 the Federal Government have been spending hundreds of millions of dollars on counter- terrorism schools in an attempt to build up a supply of qualified professionals for the increased Federal jobs related to National Security . In fact, this year alone there is proposed to be approximately $34.8 billion dollars spent on matters related to National Security.

Right now the government is gearing up for what they call, “al-Qaida 2.0”, and the inevitable conflicts that remain on the horizon. Even though the top commander in Afghanistan has been ordered to submit a proposal to the President on the beginning of troop withdrawal from that county by mid-October, this does not spell the end of the War on Terror. There are many other obstacles and stumbling blocks which also have to be dealt with. In fact, with a diminished presence of U.S. military personnel in the region, there will be a spike in the demand for well-trained counter-terrorism professionals.

Having a terrorism certificate or degree from a number of accredited counter-terrorism schools can offer you a decided advantage in the current job market, in a field that is not only constantly hiring but which is also stable, well-funded and in exceedingly high demand. Government work, particularly in the area of National Security is one of the only areas in the job market where there is a guarantee of a constant demand for well-qualified professions. A terrorism certificate or degree can be your foot in the door on a recession-proof career which will also help to make the world a safer place.
