Walk-in Shower Choices
A walk in shower is a luxury that anyone deserves to have in their homes. It might occupy a big space in the bathroom. But, there are designs that can help remedy this little inconvenience.
To have doors or not. There are many types of shower doors. But the real question is not on choosing which type of door to use but whether or not you will install a door for your walk in bathroom.
A door can give you more security and that much needed privacy. When you need to consider design, there are different variations that will meet your needs for the specific bathroom that you have.
Having doors will also help protect outer bathroom fixtures from moisture and splashes of water. When your bathroom furniture are protected, you can be assured that they will remain with good quality even after a long period of time.
Shower dimensions. There are huge walk in showers and there are narrow ones. The decision on which one to have will be determined by how much space the whole bathroom has.
A walk in bathroom needs to have enough space to accommodate at least one person plus a few more shower fixtures. There should be enough room in order to move comfortably.
One that has at least a proportionate length and width will be better than a narrow but long room. But also, make sure that the walk in shower is not too big. It will be time consuming and inconvenient to move from one side to another while taking a bath.
Tiles styles. Showers are most durable when there are tiles present. And for this type of design choice, you will have a few more styles to choose from. Tiles will a little texture can help prevent slips. Tiles that have small areas may also help avoid slips compared to wide-surfaced individual tiles.
The color of the tiles will also matter. Some tiles can make the space look warmer, while others can make it look cooler. When these tiles comprise a major part of the bathroom, the size of the room is also altered. Darker colors can provide an illusion of a smaller space while lighter colors can make the room look larger.
Showers with seats. Some have these seats for extra comfort. Others will have them in order to fill up the extra space in the walk-in bathroom. But more importantly, these seats can be for your convenience. You may also use them as stand to hold your toiletries.
Corner stalls. This is the best idea for those who do not have enough space in their bathrooms for a walk-in shower but really want to have one. A corner stall will be able to maximize the space in that room.
Safety concerns. For those who have older adults who use the bathroom, it might be safest to have additional fixtures. One very important item is a side bar. Older people can hold on to these bars to avoid slipping on the wet floor of the bathroom. These can be installed inside the walk-in bathroom as well as in the outer areas.Jessie Hosler is a design specialist and enjoys writing about any type of home decor such as bath vanity and double sink bathroom vanity as well as other products.
