Today many people are using VoIP phones. Before purchasing wireless home alarm systems, you may want to check that the one you are choosing is compatible with a VoIP phone. Many are not. They are designed for use with land lines. The digital signal used by a VoIP phone must be converted to an analogue signal and if it is not, communication problems will be experienced.

Another problem with using these types of phones is if there is no power, the phone will not work. Wireless home alarm systems have back up power, but most computer modems do not. If you want to prevent this from occurring, purchasing a back up power source for the computer\’s router and modem can rectify this problem.

Signal problems can be experienced. More often than not checking for interference from outside sources or even the phone line itself can remedy these problems. Often replacing a phone line can help.

Wireless home alarm systems are much more secure than wired systems because they can be made harder for a thief or burglar to locate. Thus, they cannot simply unplug the phone line or rip the system from the wall.

More often than not, a problem with the system is just something simple. The failure to make certain that all the doors and windows are secured before activating the alarm is one. Making certain that all family members know how to operate the system will ensure the alarm is working when it should.
