Oil Painting Artists

There is just something special about the pictures created by oil painting artists. A person can just get lost in their work. The wonderful thing is the fact that there isn’t just a certain style that uses oil based paints, many artists use it.

It is used for all sorts of different kinds of work. Renaissance, impressionists, and many other forms use this type of paint.

Oil painting artists have spanned over hundreds of years, and have inspired thousands of people to create magnificent pictures throughout the world. Monet, Da Vinci, Van Gough, and many more are just a few examples of some of the famous people who produced pictures this way.

Leonardo da Vinci is probably the most famous artist of all time. He was a true “Renaissance Man” in his time. He created masterpieces, invented, and was a philosopher, architect, and much more.

Although he did many great things for his time, he was very well respected for his pieces. The Mona Lisa is one of his most known works. She has been said to be the epitome of beauty, and she has a smile that warms everyone’s heart.

He also did a piece that has become the most well known religious picture: The Last Supper. This particular picture has been duplicated in many different styles and on all types of materials. If there was a Hall of Fame for oil painting artists, Leonardo da Vinci would definitely be in it.

Another true “Renaissance Man” was Michelangelo. Ironically, he wanted to be known for his works as a sculptor. As much as he wanted to be loved as such, he couldn’t step out of the shadow of his paintings.

Like his Italian friend, Leonardo da Vinci, his depictions on the Sistine Chapel ceiling and alter will forever be remembered. On the ceiling, he has images from the book of Genesis, and on the altar, there are pictures from The Last Judgment.

The Creation of Adam is the center picture on the ceiling of the Chapel. This is an iconic image that anyone can recognize. Michelangelo would be in the Hall of Fame as well, if there was one.

The impressionist’s period was a very influential time, because it produced brilliantly colored images of landscapes and people. It was a very unique form that many people from all over the world loved.

Claude Monet is one of the more popular oil painting artists of that period. In fact, the entire period was named so due to his work called “Impression, Sunrise”. Some of his better known work includes “Woman with a Parasol”, “Poppies Blooming”, and “The Red Boats Argenteuil”.

Oil painting artists come from all over the world and create many diverse pieces for everyone to enjoy. For many, it has become the epitome of the word “art”.

When people think of that word, more often than not, specific oil paintings come to their mind. Although the most well known works are from the past, this is a type of art that will never fade away.
