A Buyers Book to Buying Condos
When people want to own a home, but do not want to do yard work, or shoveling snow will often choose condos. There are many advantages and disadvantages that people who are in the market for one need to know. Some people like to live a condominium life, and some would rather own a detached single family home.
One of the many advantages in owning a condominium is that they are not responsible for any part of the exterior of the house. If the siding is defective, or the windows need to be cleaned, there is a worker that takes care of the problem. Another advantage is when it changes seasons, people do not have to mow lawns, weed whack, rake leaves, or shovel snow.
The disadvantage to this side of home ownership is that people need to pay a monthly association fee. This may is not so bad of a deal for some people, but it can be costly to others. The fees can range from as low as a hundred dollars a month, to six or seven hundred dollars a month. It all depends on the types of features the condominium association takes care of for the homeowner.
Many condominium associations offer a recreation area for their residents to use whenever they want. Some associations have a golf course for the residents back yards. There is usually a recreation room that has a swimming pool, exercise facility and hot tub or sauna area. This is a great idea since people who exercise everyday can do so in their own neighborhood. All of the amenities are in walking distance, compared to single family homes who have to drive to places to work out.
One disadvantage to this is that people will not have the privacy as people who own single family homes that have these amenities. The pool and workout facilities are shared with the rest of the residents who are in the association. People who are germ conscious may not like sharing with other people.
Another advantage in owning a condominium is that they are strategically built close enough to large shopping areas and restaurants. People will also have a greater chance at finding employment, since builders build close enough to provide career options for the residents.
The disadvantage is that when people want to enjoy the outdoors, that there will often be a lot of background noise from cars or people, when they are located near a busy neighborhood. People who want to get away from bustling city life may want to choose to live in a single family home in the suburbs.
There are several more advantages that can sway buyers to purchase condos. They offer a lot of amenities for people to choose from, which saves them a trip from going to a workout facility off-site. Many of the condominiums have a gated entry, so stray travelers are not able to get inside. This creates a safer neighborhood to live in, since it reduces the crime rate within the walls.
