Hotel Perks You Should Know About
There are a few hotel perks you expect to find in any nice room, decent sheets, complimentary shampoo and conditioner, and maybe even a terry cloth robe or two. Many properties offer coffee or a continental breakfast in the lobby and a small workout facility. All of these amenities will make you feel like you are getting a little something extra and chances are the front desk will remind you about all of them at check in. But what about the things they do not always tell you about? Many hotels have a laundry list of special features, and all you have to do to take advantage of them is ask! Here are a few perks you might not know to ask for that could help make your next hotel stay a little more luxurious.
Many hotels have club levels or business lounges that are available to guests who upgrade their rooms. If a room upgrade is not in your budget some of these hotel guests the option to pay a lounge membership fee for access to the club during their stay. While this fee may seem expensive, it is generally around fifty dollars per day; the perks that come with the membership may save you money in the long run. These lounges serve free meals and late night snacks. Many of them are also offering free alcoholic beverages to encourage business travelers. Some hotels will even wave the internet access fee for those who choose the club membership.
Once you have upgraded your membership and are heading back to your room with all that free food, you might want to save some for later. Almost every hotel room has a mini bar but some of them are packed full and equipped with censors that charge you the second you even bump an item. While consuming snacks from the mini bar might be out of your budget you might still be able to get a fridge in your room to keep your food and beverages chilled. Many hotels have extra mini fridges on hand and some will even happily bring on to your room if you just ask. At other hotels you may have to pay a fee for the additional fridge so you will want to double check on the price. The cost can range from very reasonable to totally not worth it but you won’t know until you ask.
Another way hotels are starting to pamper their guests is with a pillow menu. Traditionally hotel guests could request either feather pillows or non allergenic pillows but that limited menu is very outdated. Many high end and moderately priced hotel chains are offering their guests the chance to choose from a list of dozens of pillows. Anything you can imagine, body pillows, neck pillows, pillows that are part duck down part water, special pillows for cold sufferers that feature aroma therapy scents like eucalyptus, some even offer an aroma therapy romance pillow for couples looking to “spice” up their hotel stay.
All these features may not be available during your next hotel stay, but the next time you book a room be sure to ask if there are any hidden perks.
