Various Types of Impotence Treatments
Penile Prosthesis:
This is a treatment for impotence which usually consists of two different processes. One process involves the use of malleable or bendable rods and the other process involves the use of inflatable devices. When bendable rods are used, they are implanted in the erection area of the penis making the penis rigid at all times. Patients who undergo this surgery don’t always have to adjust or lift their penis to an erected position because the rods keep the penis rigid at all times. Most patients find it difficult choosing this process over the second one, which involves inflatable devices.
The use of inflatable devices is more advantageous since it allows the patient to control his erection. An individual is able to have an erection whenever he feels like it because he only needs to inflate the devices through pumping, and the penis gets erected. Most men today choose inflatable prosthesis because it is more natural and easier to conceal. The process involves a pump, a reservoir and two attached cylinders. All these devices are implanted surgically into the penis area, except the two cylinders, which are inserted directly into the penis. To separate them from the reservoir, a special tube is used. The reservoir is surgically placed under the groin while the pump sits between the testicles somewhere under the scrotal sac.
The use of penile implants to treat impotence is usually considered when other methods have failed. Often a person has to go through other treatment options first to see whether they can work for him before resorting to penile implants.
Communication:
Most people who suffer from erectile dysfunction find it very hard to talk openly about their condition, especially to their partners. The fear is always so strong due to the embarrassment involved. Communicating freely and positively with your partner should not be the last, but the first thing to do if you suffer from this condition. It is better to let your partner know and understand what you are going through in order to avoid more embarrassment. Good communication does not only offer successful diagnosis, but it also offers treatment, because your condition might be caused by performance anxiety.
Erectile Dysfunction Drugs:
The root cause of erectile dysfunction is blood pressure. The condition normally involves high blood pressure and most medication contains substances that lower high blood pressure. In most cases, the drugs contain substances that are able to stimulate the body to produce extra nitric oxide gas, which reduces the blood flow to its normal condition. The only noticeable disadvantage to such drugs is the fact that a good number of them cause reactions, which can lead to permanent erectile dysfunction. This is especially dangerous for men who use sex enhancing drugs for pleasure and not for treating erectile dysfunction. Most erectile dysfunction drugs are over-the-counter drugs and their safety is not always guaranteed. So don’t just get a drug because you saw it advertised. You could be in for some serious side effects.
Hormone Therapy:
This type of impotence treatment is usually done when hormones such as testosterone are responsible for the condition. Impotence sometimes occurs when the sex drive is reduced due to low testosterone levels. Hormone therapy raises the level of testosterone so that an improved sex drive and erection can be achieved.
