How Hotels Make Use Of Digital Signage

Digital signage is a form of advertising done on digital screens, usually controlled by a personal computer. It may include words displayed in sequence in various ways (they may scroll from left to right across the panel, for instance, or they may gradually appear thereon); or it may consist of digital images, or of TV- type commercials. It is used by companies of all types, for all kinds of purposes- at sports events to indicate each team\’s score, as advertising by stores, restaurants, and hotels, and to warn people of danger. In this article, we shall deal exclusively with the ways in which digital signage is used by hotels.

Hotels derive especially great benefits from digital signs. They provide advertising that is visible from a distance, so they can easily be seen by potential customers approaching in their cars. Better still, digital signs can be seen at night- which billboards cannot- and their glow- in- the- dark lettering is impossible to miss. By the same token, the information that one sees displayed in this manner will tend to impress itself on the mind and also be easily remembered.

Digital signs can do much, much more than just advertise the hotel at a distance. Signs can also be placed in the lobbies to give the guests valuable information. For example, they may tell at what hours the swimming pool, the gymnasium, the restaurant, the bar, or the gift shop is open; where the meeting room is located; what specials are on the menu for tonight; local weather; sports events and news flashes; and what businesses operate in the local area- where to go shopping or find a taxi, what tourist attractions are located here, special events such as concerts and performances, and so on. Fire or other emergency notices can be put up using digital technology. And in- house cable TV can be delivered to each guest in his or her room.

Some companies have devoted their entire business to providing digital signs for hotels. They teach the people who run them how to use the technology and why should invest in it, install the machinery, and help them to schedule and run campaigns. Technicians install and implement the systems so that the hotel employees will not need to master any new technology.

Hotels that use digital signs have seen a dramatic increase in revenue over what they had before the technology was implemented. Their guests, too, find that they can receive more information this way. And businesses that operate near such hotels are grateful for the increased awareness of their presence and what they have to offer.

But more than anything else, the purpose for which hotels use digital signage should be to make their guests feel like they are welcome, so that they will want to come back to the spend their vacations sleeping and dinging in the same facility again and again.
