Renoir Paintings

From the French man who offered the world its first glimpse of impressionism, we have Pierre-Auguste Renoir paintings. His career began as he painted designs on china at a factory.

From there, he pursued his talent. He did work for missionaries which led him to finally go to art school.

He studied the French artists that came before him at the Louvre. This was the beginning of a very famous artist’s career and story.

Many of his earliest works were of the Seine River. He also loved to depict scenes that featured the forest near Fontainebleau.

These too were featured in the very earliest Renoir paintings. However, he fell out of favor with the owner of this property and it was then that we saw a change in the types of things that he painted from there on.

The first impressionism exhibition is what really gave way to the fame of Renoir paintings and their creator. This happened in 1874. At this time he also had some pieces offered at an exhibition in London as well.

Much of his life was spent studying the works of other artists and going to their respective countries to do so. He spent a great deal of time in Algeria, Spain and Italy.

Later in his life he spent a measurable amount of time in the English Channel creating many works in one month’s time. He even donated several paintings to Queen Victoria.

After he married, he made many Renoir paintings of his wife and children, as well as their nanny. He had three sons, two of which went on to be famous in their own rite.

His work is praised as being the great impressionist style that was to become dear to the entire world over time. He exploited the passage of time with the use of light, and this same pretense also gave way to motion being depicted in his works.

Renoir paintings often show people carrying on their daily routines or doing the things that normal people do at functions and parties. The colors are vibrant and unlike any other types of artwork of the period.

His work began as images that were captured from the forests around him and the river, and then moved on to outdoor functions such as dances in which many people are captured as they all involved within the moment.

He created thousands of works of art. He is one artist who has more work reproduced than any other artist in history.

People love his style and use of light. His works are cherished for capturing the time period perfectly in a way that almost transports you to that moment in time and makes you feel as if you can hear the music, feel the wind and see the sun.

While there are literally thousands of pieces that he created, the largest collection that is on public display is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Barnes Foundation. There are over 180 of his works there for the public to view, appreciate and be transported back in time.
