Reduce Cholesterol Without Medication

If you are looking for a way to reduce cholesterol without medication, I have some good news to share with you. Before I do, I would like to explain what cholesterol is and what it can mean to your health.

Cholesterol is naturally produced by the body and is made up of a a combination of lipid (fat) and steroid. Cholesterol is necessary for cell membranes and for hormones like estrogen and testosterone. About 80% of the body\’s cholesterol is produced by the liver and the rest comes from our diet. Meat, poultry, fish and dairy products in our diet produce cholesterol. After eating a meal, cholesterol is absorbed from the intestines and stored in the liver.

Eating too many high cholesterol foods can result in more cholesterol then our body needs. This is when the problem begins. As the cholesterol travels through our blood stream, it can become stuck in our arteries, forming plaque, making it difficult for the blood to flow through.

Diet and exercise can certainly help lower cholesterol levels. Eating unhealthy, excessive drinking, smoking and lack of exercise can all contribute to high cholesterol levels. Unfortunately there are no symptoms of high cholesterol. A blood test is needed to determine you levels.

* The blood test will reveal:

* Total cholesterol level

* LDL cholesterol (known as bad cholesterol

* HDL cholesterol (known as good cholesterol

* Triglycerides

Cholesterol levels over 200% put you in risk of heart disease. HDL (good cholesterol), move the cholesterol from your blood and arteries to you liver, which in turn removes it from your body. Thats why higher HDL cholesterol are desirable. If your HDL level is lower then 40, it is a major risk for your heart. Optimally HDL levels should be above 60.

High Triglyceride levels are caused by lack of exercise, being over weight, smoking and unhealthy eating. Triglyceride levels should be under 150.

LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) keep the cholesterol in our blood stream. This is how plaque is left in our arteries. A LDL reading of under 100 is optimal. 130 and above is high.

Six months ago, I was diagnosed with high cholesterol. My doctor wanted to put me on medication, but I refused. I had heard about the harmful side effects of cholesterol medication. I also know that prescription drugs don\’t cure the problem, they only treat the symptoms, making it necessary to stay on the medication for the rest of your life.

It didn\’t sound like a good alternative to me. I am passionate about natural healing and health and decided to use the internet for researching natural alternatives to my health issue.

Now for the good news. There is a natural solution to reduce your cholesterol without medication. In 1998 Dr. Ignarro won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for his discovery that Nitric Oxide would eliminate and even reverse heart disease. It was also discovered that taking a Nitric Oxide supplement didn\’t work because it didn\’t remain in the body longer then a few minutes. L-arginine is a amino acid supplement that is converted into Nitric Oxide in the body and remains for 28 to 32 hours.

The internet offers a large selection of L-arginine products. Further research revealed that not all L-arginine supplements the same quality. After much comparison, I choose the product and company that was known for its research and manufacturing excellence, backed by medical doctors.

After 6 months on the L-arginine supplement and no change in diet, I had my cholesterol levels rechecked. The results were amazing and my doctor was thrilled. Here were my results.

Cholesterol was 299 now 219 ideal 200

Triglceride was 236 now 193 ideal 150 & under

HDL was 62 now 66 ideal 60 & above

LDL was 195 now 130 ideal 100 & under

My doctor told me that whatever I was doing was working amazingly well and there was no more mention of me being put on medication as I am no longer within the high risk zone. With continued use, I absolutely certain my cholesterol levels will all be in the optimal range within a few more months.
