5 Of The Hottest London Theatre Musicals In 2010

A night at the theatre has always been a great way to spend the evening, with there not being many better places in the world to enjoy a live performance than in the London theatre district.

Showcasing theatre productions of all types for centuries, there are currently some of the most popular musicals being played in London theatres throughout 2010, with the following selection, in no particular order, being 5 of the most popular.

1. Jersey Boys – with production starting in 2005 on New York’s Broadway, Jersey Boys started in the London West End three years later in 2008.

The story of Franki Valli and the Four Seasons, arguably the most successful rock and roll band from the 1960s, Jersey Boys details the entire life of the band and has done so in such a fantastic fashion, the Broadway production scooped an array of Tony Awards in 2006, most notably Best Musical and Best Actor for John Lloyd Young, who depicted Franki Valli.

2. Les Miserables – first starting in October 1985, Les Miserables is the longest running musical in a London theatre ever.

A story based around a 19th century Victor Hugo novel, Les Miserables details the trials and tribulations that a selection of characters face as they battle for liberation in France.

Featuring an array of different well-known songs, the most popular is arguably I Dreamed Tadalis SX A Dream, with a lot of thanks going to Susan Boyle, does female cialis work who blew Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan away when she auditioned for 2009’s Britain’s Got Talent, singing that song perfectly.

3. Mamma Mia! – considering the Mamma Mia! film was one of the most popular films of 2008, breaking the record for the most successful musical (previously held by Grease), it is somewhat surprising for people to hear that it had been running in the West End for almost a decade before the release.

A story revolving around the songs of the ever-popular band Abba, Mamma Mia! first opened at the Prince Edward Theatre, but moved to the Prince of Wales Theatre in 2004 and has seen it be produced in at least Kamagra jelly two dozen individual cities around the world over the past decade.

4. The Phantom of the Opera – the second longest running musical in a London theatre, the Phantom of the Opera was first shown on 9 October 1986 at Her Majesty’s Theatre, where it has remained ever since.

Written by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, the story is a traditional tale of love and beauty, with a seemingly perfect soprano falling in love with a disfigured musical mastermind.

5. The Lion King – a massive hit for Disney when the animated film was released in cinemas in 1994 (the film grossed over 780 million US dollars at the box office, according to data from Box Office Mojo), the West End production began on 11 October 1999 and has been one of the most successful London theatre productions ever since.

The Lion King musical actually started in Minneapolis in America in 1997 and before it reached the West End, saw productions on Broadway and in Tokyo, in 1997 and 1998 respectively.
