Where is Santa? Ted Burns Investigates!
Where Is Santa? Ted Burns Investigates!
Nothing sums up the spirit of Christmas quite like a good old-fashioned manhunt. Especially, it must be said, when the prey at the wrong end of this particular one-man pogrom is none other than dear old Santa Claus himself. This all may seem a little harsh. After all, he’s already got to take time out from his lucrative high-speed global courier service to deliver presents to every child around the world in one night. And he’s got to squeeze a not insubstantial frame down chimneys, up the odd ladder and through the occasional cat flap.
But none of this matters to Ted Burns, television investigative journalist extraordinaire and host of Third Degree. Fresh from breaking red-hot exclusives about strawberries being made from asbestos, badgers being carcinogenic and food mixers coming alive to take over the world, Ted isn’t going to let allegations of elf mistreatment, reindeer abuse and several extremely large parking fines against Father Christmas go undisturbed.
However, Ted and his faithful assistant Robin soon discover that finding the Christmas Crackpot is no small task. Angry lawyers, incompetent policeman, highly-distressed elves and members of the public solely intent on talking about Michael Winner all apparently have an interest in locating Mr. Claus. But the more Ted delves into the murky underworld of seasonal benevolence – or maybe that should be malevolence – the more it becomes clear that cracking this case is going to be harder than getting another series of Third Degree commissioned. And that is going some.
With a new installment going online every day between December 1 and December 25 (inclusive), Keen City’s Search for Santa will follow Ted and Robin’s attempts to bring the Festive Felon into custody. Hopefully just in time to save/ruin Christmas for everyone else.
About Keen City
Keen City’s name is derived from a verse in the poem The Moon’s A Balloon by E.E. Cummings, which talks about a place full of pretty people, where everyone is in love and flowers pick themselves. The company is, however, based in London, which falls short of this description in at least a couple of ways. Possibly more. Especially when you’re on the Tube. Nasty business.
The company’s first short film, Alleyman, won a Lion Award for Achievement at the British Independent Film Awards, 2011, and received an honourable mention at this year’s Los Angeles Independent Film Festival. Another short, Darkest Before Dawn, premiered at the Cannes Short Film Corner in May 2011. A project of similar length, The Tyrant’s Cup, is currently in post-production, and Keen City’s first feature film, The Cult, is currently at the financing stage. The Keen City team is also working on a number of exciting television projects. Stay tuned.
