Bathroom Vanity Sink Types
Choosing a vanity sink to use in your home can be a daunting task. This can be because there are so many that one needs to choose from.
When shopping for a bathroom sink, you have to consider its material, price and design. But aside from these factors, you will also pay a lot of attention to the sink type. Here are some of the most common sink types available on the market today.
Wall mounted. This can be considered as the most common or famous sink type. From its name, one can already know that the item is attached or installed into the wall of the bathroom. This can be seen in older homes or homes that have been designed with a classic touch. Apartments with small spaces also have these as wall mounted sinks allow one to save a lot of space in the bathroom.
These do not have any form of support from underneath the sink’s body or else they will be considered part of another type of sink. If you are wondering how they are attached to the wall, you can see that there are special hangers that keep them in place. The pipe lines can either be hidden inside the walls or they can be displayed outside and underneath the wall mounted sink.
Pedestal. Then, there are pedestal sinks. This type is characterized by a base or a column that supports the sink area. This can also be used for an apartment or a home that has limited space. However, there shouldn’t be a problem with the pedestal present underneath the sink. This can both be seen in new or old home designs. It can fit almost any situation and it can be suitable for almost any bathroom. If you want to hide plumbing that connect to the sink, this will be an ideal type as the pipes are concealed inside or underneath the pedestal. And so, the result is a clean looking bathroom fixture.
Framed. The frame for this type of sink will help delineate the area. There is an area that is allotted for the sink. This area is lower than the counter that supports it. Metal or plastic laminate are the two most common materials that are used for this type.
Drop-in. From the name, one can visualize that this sink is installed within the vanity set and below the level of the vanity counter. This is similar to a hole that is built into the fixture. Just like the framed set, this can be good to have when you want to avoid making a mess with water spills on the vanity counter and other parts of the bathroom when you are going to use the sink.
Undermount. This is a type wherein the sink is built into the vanity set. Oftentimes, this is seen in homes that are made with a modern design in mind. They are best to use if you want to have a sink that looks clean and simple but still performs its purpose.
