Other factors that can affect the future monetary value of a neighborhood include prison sites, racetracks and nightclubs. Granted, these particular industries need to be somewhere, but it would be preferable to not buy a house too close to them. Prisons have a certain amount of fear associated with them. Although it rarely happens, many people would be worried about an escaped convict, which could hurt the chances of getting top dollar for the house in the future.

Racetracks are quite noisy at night, and sometimes attract people who may tend to drink too much. Nightclubs present the same problem. Even though these issues may not matter to the current owners, they can affect the future value of the house, the street and even the entire neighborhood.

The size of the lots containing the homes for sale is also important. Many newer neighborhoods have tiny lots that are barely large enough for a couple of trees. Those who enjoy spending time outdoors or who have children who would like a play area would not be happy with a small lot. Another reason that potential owners may not appreciate small lots is because of the noise that could be heard from neighbors that simply live too close to one another.

These are just a few of the reasons why it is imperative that a potential buyer take the time to get to know the area before making an offer on a house. There are many homes for sale, so take time to find the right one.
