Voicemail Message to Get Return Calls For Direct Sales Business

As a direct sales consultant, you have to make calls. You can’t survive in the direct sales business for very long without making calls. When placing calls, you are often directed to leave a voice mail message. Your calls may be for sales, follow-up, business-to-business reasons, or just to keep in touch. No matter why you are calling, you want a return call. How do you ensure that the person on the receiving end of that message gives you a call back?

The technology of today is the bane of most direct sales consultants. Since connecting with out customers is what makes the direct selling business model so successful, the need to leave a voice mail can be extremely frustrating. As a matter of fact, most direct sellers become phone phobic due to the increase of call screening then the lack of return calls after leaving a message.

Becoming good at leaving voice mail messages has turned into a necessary business skill!

If you are making a sales call, your message should be concise and grab the attention of the listener. Talk about discounts, sale prices, and use a little sale hyperbole. Refer to the bottom line: your product, the benefits, and the money details. When making a sales call, sell – even if it is on a voice mail message!

For any other type of call, there are some basic rules you should consider.

* Keep your message simple. Long-winded messages will lose the listener’s attention and may be ignored.

* Keep your tone positive and upbeat. Don’t speak in a monotone; use expression and emphasis in your voice.

* Focus on who you are calling and what they need. This indicates you may have something that will benefit them.

* Always clearly identify yourself. Say your name, your company, and the reason for your call. If the call refers to a specific sale, or a product already purchased, give the reference number or any details that will identify the sale or the product.

* Remember to speak slowly and clearly – but not too slowly! If it is someone with whom you have limited contact, leave your name and number twice.

* Always be gracious. Remember to say “thank you.”
