How to Be Vegan

The decision to become a vegan is a personal and life defining decision. For me it was made easier once I was made aware of the cruelty inflicted upon poor helpless animals. The systematic assembly line slaughter of animals done in such a barbaric and vile manner repulsed me. Once I started watching some of the truly vile videos depicting workers in slaughter houses enjoying the murdering of living breathing creatures so that the masses can consume on a never ending unsustainable basis while walking around with blinders; my decision was made and my life was forever changed. I needed to learn how to be vegan. I wanted to know why such an absolutely abhorrent and disgusting industry such as the fur industry thrives in a so called civilized society. My mind was racing I needed to know what were the right foods to eat so I could be in balance with my need for proper nutrition and my obligation to live a moral and ethical life. I wanted to know why companies still find it necessary to test on animals and I wanted to make sure I never buy there products again. I didn\’t want to wear leather or any clothing made from animals. This was going to be a complete lifestyle change; and it has been. What I didn\’t expect to happen to me on my quest on how to be vegan was the back lash from some family and friends who I no longer share the same views with. You will be mocked and ridiculed by some people you least expect it from. The brain washing of society that has led to the belief that it is our absolute right to objectify animals to whatever we see fit is complete. You will sometimes face tough decisions and you may need to say goodbye to some so called friends, and yes even loved ones. Alone you cannot change the world but you can make a difference when you choose to surround yourself with like minded people and try to educate the uneducated and together we can all learn how to be vegan.

The number one difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is that a vegan eliminates all animal products. Where as a vegetarian may choose to still eat dairy and wear animal products. Being vegan is more of a lifestyle choice. It is a commitment to respect animals and not to view there existence as purely for the exploitation of humans. The cruel conditions that these poor animals are exposed to and sadistic methods in which they are killed purely to satisfy humanities uncontrollable appetite is truly mind boggling. Once exposed to the truth becoming vegan becomes natural and only then will you know how to be vegan. There are many resources available for the aspiring vegan; from cookbooks to blogs, software and everything in between. So enjoy your journey on how to be vegan.
