Glass Film

Adding a glass film to a window should always mean thoroughly prepping the surface immediately before applying the tint in order for the application process to be done correctly. Having the right tools is essential, and knowing how to be prepare the surface will insure an amazing application that will last years before needing to be replaced. In addition, a good window tinting can increase the appeal and the value of the surface.

The first step to any application is to insure the applier has all the tools on hand. In addition, a thorough understanding of the directions is vital.

Getting halfway through the application and learning that a trip to the hardware store for a hard card may ruin the application process or seriously add a few delays. Plus, stopping mid-project is frustrating and time consuming.

Squeegees are another important tool that should not be neglected. A new, high quality squeegee is definitely recommended by the experts.

Glass film is an amazing investment that is well-worth its price. Preparing the window for the installation process may seem time consuming, but the final product is worth the effort.

Remove any object or flap that may be touching the application surface. Some folks may need to remove the door panel when it comes to automobiles, but sometimes, simply taping back the flaps or object will suffice.

This is left up to the better judgment of the installer or applicator. However, there cannot be anything touching or rubbing against the window surface.

Once the window is clear of external objects, the applicator or installer will need to make sure the vehicle or window is in an area that is protected from any dust and debris. A clean garage is a great idea, if possible.

However, if a garage is not available, insure the wind is minimal and there is no dust floating in the air. Dust particles will cause bubbles in the finished application.

After securing an area that is clean and debris free, the installer will need to clean the surface thoroughly. Use a spray bottle filled with a mixture of warm water and a couple drops of dish detergent.

Spray the surface and clean and dry it thoroughly. Then carefully take a new razor blade and run the blade along the surface of the window carefully.

Do not damage the window surface. However, insure the surface is smooth and clean with no particles of debris attached. Once completed, spray again with the soapy mixture and dry thoroughly.

Preparing the window properly for the glass film application is imperative to a final product that is without blemishes or air bubbles. Any type of break, cut, bump, dip, or other imperfection in the window will shine through once the tinting process is completed.

If the installer is not able to work around natural curves and bends in the window (such as a back vehicle window), the installer should contact a professional. In addition, many rear window defrosters take a special hand for proper application.

While many do-it-yourselfers or DIY folks can complete the project as intended, other folks may need to hire a professional installer when it comes to adding glass film. However, with a bit of practice and patience, anyone can have that amazing window tinting people appreciate and enjoy today.
