San Francisco is a beautiful area on the West coast of the United States. There are plenty of shores, mountain tops and everything in between to keep you entertained on your next vacation.

Some of the things to do in San Francisco include visiting all their famous national landmarks. This is the only place where you can see the famous originals native to California.

One landmark to visit is Alcatraz Island in the Bay area. The district is comprised of 470 acres containing 18 contributing buildings and 28 contributing structures.

This once military prison center is now open for tours and visits. If you have seen the movie and are intrigued or just want to learn about it for the first time, you can see the prison that was closed in 1963 for the public as a Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

If you are still looking for something on the mysterious side, you can visit the Atherton House which was built in 1881. It is said that this house is haunted by four ghosts from time to time – three aggressive female spirits and one male spirit.

The spirits were all once inhabitants of the Atherton House that decided to hang around. Discover the story behind the haunting and visit it for yourself.

The Archbishop’s Mansion is another great landmark to visit. It is the second French Empire building facing the northeast corner of Alamo Square and was built as a home for Patrick Riordan, the second archbishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Francisco.

The building is now in the Alamo Square Historic District and operates as a landmark. Previously, it was open as a bed and breakfast inn, which it is no longer.

The Beach Chalet is a sight unlike any other. Located in Golden Gate Park, this establishment stands facing the cold and foggy Pacific at the western end.

Another interesting landmark in San Francisco is the Beltline Railroad Roundhouse at the Embarcadero built in 1918. The Roundhouse stands across from Pier 29.

The trains no longer run along the Embarcadero, but the historic streetcars of the F-line run along the Embarcadero from Aquatic Park to the Ferry Building and then up Market Street to The Castro. You can take a ride if you Levitra Professional like or just watch and visit the Roundhouse.

Another National Landmark is the Coffin-Redington Building which is just on Folsom and Beale Street. It was built in 1937 and is a unique modern commercial building.

This original four-story, concrete and stucco building was completed in 1937, and a five-story addition was built in 1944. They were originally used by splitting propecia the Coffin-Redington Drug Company for offices, laboratories, manufacturing, warehousing and shipping.

In 1997, the building was converted into 53 luxurious lofts. The new condominiums are often photographed to show the transforming San Francisco neighborhoods.

One landmark in the Golden Gate Park is the Dutch Windmill. It is simply just a view to take in, but is one that should not be missed if you are in the area.

The Yeon Building is part of the Jackson Square Historic District and is another landmark to visit in San Francisco. The Trentmont Hotel stood on the property in 1855, but the 1906 Earthquake and Fire either severely damaged or destroyed the hotel.

The building which stands there today may incorporate the foundation and other bits of the hotel in 1906. However, many say that the building dates back to 1865 and may have housed the first French Consulate in San Francisco.

This is another great piece of history that has endured time and the elements for you to visit it while you are in the San Francisco area. The beautiful and rustic architecture is unlike any other building you have seen before, so come and learn its history.
