Living a Fruitful Life

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” – John 12:24

Imagine you loved apples so much that you planted an apple tree in your compound. After years of nurturing the apple seed into an apple tree, you discover that the apple tree lacks the capacity to produce apple fruits. What will you do? Most likely, you will cut it down.

In Matthew 21:18-22, Jesus went to a fig tree and when he found no fruit on the tree, he cursed the tree. Why? Because fruitlessness is wastefulness. And God hates waste.

Being fruitful in life IS NOT synonymous to reproducing or having many Children. As a matter of fact, reproduction is the lowest level of fruitfulness in life. Being fruitful in life is engaging the gifts, talents and potentials that God has given you, to fulfill the purpose of God for your life. When you are able to harness your God given potentials to fulfill God’s purpose for your life, you become fruitful in life.

One thing I’ve discovered about God’s purpose for a person’s life is that the purpose is always geared towards impacting the lives of other people positively. God will never give you a purpose that is all about you. Just like the purpose of an apple tree (and many other trees) is to produce fruits for others to eat and be nourished, the divine purpose of every human being boils down to benefiting others and impacting their life in a positive way.

One of the several characteristics of a fruitful tree is that it is valuable and it attracts attention. Nobody cares about a fruitless tree. So also, when you become fruitful in life, you become valuable and you attract attention of people. You become a solution provider to people and they are even willing to pay you for that. Most of all, you experience fulfillment (which is priceless).

However, for you to be fruitful in life, you must be ready to lay down your desires for your life and follow after God’s desire for your life. You must be ready to forfeit every pursuit and ambition that it not part of God’s agenda for your life, and aggressively pursue God’s ambition for your life. Until you die to “self” by taking up “your cross” (Luke 9:23), which is a symbol of your purpose, you can never experience the fruitfulness in life that I’m talking about. And because God is committed to His course or purpose, God will become committed to you when you pursue God’s course or purpose for your life. That’s the secret of fruitfulness in life.

I decree that you shall know no bareness in life in the name of Jesus! God’s purpose for your life shall be fulfilled in the name of Jesus! God bless you.
