Choosing the Right Wedding Favors

Wedding favors are meant to be a keepsake given to the guests from the bride and groom or the host and hostess for the day. They are typically small enough to fit neatly on a table setting or held in hand and they usually reflect the event\’s theme. They vary greatly from yummy treats to small useful items and can also range in price.

One type of favor that is popular is a chocolate that can be handed-out to guests during the reception or may be at their table setting at a sit-down dining affair. Sometimes the chocolate treat is molded into a shape that reflects the mood of the day or the theme such as a rose for a Victorian them or an anchor for a nautical themed event. The chocolate may be held in a cellophane bag and tied with a ribbon, inside of a decorative box or may be housed in a different type of container.

Another type of candy can also be used such as Jordan almond or mints. The candies can be wrapped in tulle and tied closed with a small satin ribbon for a delicate and simple favor. Or the bride may decide to put the candy in another type of container such as small tin or a tiny jar with a decorative ribbon tied around the neck.

Usually, the theme of the event will influence the type of favor that is given to guests. If there is a butterfly or a garden theme for the occasion, the bride may decide to give guests a packet of wildflower seeds that they can plant in their own gardens to attract butterflies. Or she might give each guest a set of note cards with a butterfly image on printed on them and a beautiful pen.

The wedding colors may also help to determine the type of keepsake to give away. If the color palette includes an array of golds and yellows, the bride might decide to give some golden colored honey to her guests. She might create her own unique label that has the wedding date on it and might tie a bow around the jar\’s neck.

The time of year is also an influencing factor when deciding on what type of favor to hand out to guests. If the affair takes place around Valentine\’s Day, the bride may hand out some chocolate hearts, red roses or some conversation heart candies. If the event takes place around Christmas time, the bride may decide to give her guests a special ornament in one of the wedding day colors or could give a small tin of Christmas and winter themed cookies.

Determining the type of gift to give to the guests is also a matter of budget. Some favors cost quite a lot of money and though they might be perfect for the event, may also be out of the budget for the bride and groom. In this instance, the bridal couple or hosts will have to think of another favor that will stay within the theme of the day, but will also not break the budget.

Choosing the right wedding favors is an important decision. These keepsakes will not only be part of the decor for the day, but will be a take-home reminder of the special day for guests. The favor should be consistent with the theme of the event and should also be within the budget.
